Default Bad BD disc? Harry Potter: GOF

I encountered my first bad Blu-ray disc, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Put the disc in the PS3 and it just spins and makes noises. My heart dropped, thought my PS3 bit the dirt. I take the disc out and insert Prisoner of Azkaban, works fine! So I examine the disc and it looks flawless, dont see any strange patters (like on a bad dvd burn). So i get the disc exchanged at walmart and voila, works fine. My question is, has anyone encountered a bad BD disc? I was just wondering if this is commonplace.

Some of the box sets had HD DVD versions of Goblet of Fire in them.

My disc spun in my PS3 for a bit, then finally played. Later, during the Yule ball scenes, it began to freeze and skip. I took it back, traded it, bought a copy from another store, took the traded copy back to the second store. This was in case it was the fault of a small 'bad batch' - wouldn't get another 'bad one' from the same store.

I can't remember if I had the newest uodate then or not - but I do remember updating around the same time. The new one from the second store works fine. So I don't know if it was a bad disc or the fact that a firmware update may have fixed a problem... My copy was an individually purchased copy, and not from the boxed set.

I've seen other reports of problems with GoF posted here before - Try to remember to use the search tool first.

Cheers,

Doc.

My Disc skipped in the same part, during the yule ball scene. Mine was the individual purchase as well. I havent replcaed it, but i have updated the firmware since, so tonight ill put it in and see if its a disc or firmware problem. Oh and im using a PS3 as well.

Mine wasnt from a box set, it was from Amazon's BOGO sale. I just thought it was weird and wanted to know if maybe they just had a bad run. Like I said, the copy I swapped for works perfectly (watched the whole thing last night).

I had a bad Spiderman 2 Blu-ray, it spinned fast making a repetitive noise (couldn't find the beginning track), and worse : it wouldn't get out the PS3, I had to swing the PS3 left up and down for it to go out !!! (dvd.co.uk is sending a replacement)

Just phone Warner Home Video and they will send you a replacement disc. The phone number is 1-800-553-6937.

You know what is interesting too is that the same thing happened with my copy of Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire on BD from Amazon.com. My movie also skipped and froze several times. I already have my replacement copy on its way from Amazon.com, but I was pissed with the result of this movie as the first three never had any problems.

I had a similar problem with the Sorcerer's Stone disk from the box-set. My PS3 would just spin up, down, up, down, click, click, then nothing, quiet. All other disks played fine. I returned it to Warner, waiting for the replacement to arrive.
Funny part is that it played in a friend's 60GB unit (I have the 40GB), but even in that one it took forever to load, and it also did the spin up/down exercise, but eventually it did play.

It is probably a bad Blu-ray Disc because it happened to me too. I bought an individual edition of GOF and it had the Blu-ray logo on it. It didn't load at all, it just kept spinning and spinning. I had to call Warner Home Video and they were kind enough to send me a replacement disc.
