Looks interesting. Like a spin off of Ghost of Tsushima. I can imagine Sucker Punch paid attention to Team Ninja's trailer, considering the similarities in theme.

That flying glide looks fun. The swords/guns combo is interesting.

I thought this was Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty when I saw the TN logo. but it's a different game that looks even better

I imagine this will be Team Ninja's (of Dead or Alive series and Ninja Gaiden) first attempt at an open map city to explore and battle in. Looks like there are ships too in the water potentially.

That other game in the State of Play, more like an action, also featured Ronin type warriors with the sword/gun weapon too.

Thanks. Here's their newest article on the game, which has been "in the works" for several years, yet is still planned for 2024. Hardly any news just yet.

Rise of the Ronin is a combat-focused, open-world action-RPG that takes place in Japan as the Edo Period draws to a close. You’ve got oppressive rulers and deadly diseases while "western influence permeates as the civil war continues to rage between the Tokugawa Shogunate and the Anti-Shogunate factions." Glad this is getting different difficulty settings. I'm always put off of soulslike games because I don't have three hours to commit to every boss I come across in a game. The worlds look fantastic but they just seem like a poor use of my time when I don't have so much time to game.

It's interesting that you're not exploring an ancient time, but more recent landscapes with 1900 era buildings.

That's good to hear Team Ninja has considered different modes. Their non-Dead or Alive games can be tough.

The hair especially are something that in games hasn't been able to be cracked just yet and there's also the fact of clothing materials, face textures etc. which can be elevated too before we hit that sweet photorealism.

I think you can chalk this up more to talent than hardware performance. I've said from the beginning that this game looks like poor man's Ghost of Tsushima. In fact, I think GOT looks better than this game and that's 3 years old.

Also, Ghost of Tsushima started off on PS4 and then got a PS5 version. It's still looking like a solid game, but we are comparing to a big budget AAA release.

I didn't realise the typo till now. I meant PS4 and then PS5. I'll edit it now. I still do stand by the budget and time thing though tbh.

The best use of PS5 so far that I've seen, would be Burning Shores specifically for Horizon 2, and then Matrix Awakens demo, which struggles with resolution, but has some impressive realistic visuals so cars are tiny specs in the distance, to zoomed in real time to the actual car driving on the road up close.

Hopefully this game offers some new ideas and gameplay. The flying definitely helps IMO, as it does in Spider-Man 2.
