Thor: Ragnarok
Gremlins 2: The New Batch Both movies took a lovingly established universe and dumped all over it by turning it into a terrible, unfunny, cringe-inducing attempt at slapstick and self-parody. Gremlins 2 had a laugh here or there. Thor: Ragnarok didn't have ONE LAUGH despite trying every 5 seconds. Ghostbusters 2 Again, tons of would-be comedy, almost no laughs. Ghostbusters (2016) Because that trash exists. |

This thread shows to filmmakers out there with the rights to famous franchises, that it's important to respect the franchise that a sequel or reboot/remake is being created for whatever reason.
Their intentions may be good, but the tone and execution of the story is critical. 2004's Blade Trinity, while it didn't make me angry, did upset me in how they took the star, Blade, and pretty much made him a supporting character to all the other characters taking the spotlight. Then the choppy, fast editing ruined the fight scenes, and Blade had to share his fight scenes with Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Biel, though nothing against them, it's not their fault. They did a good job for their roles IMO. Goyer dropped the ball on Blade Trinity. Snipes was upset about it too. They mainly wrote Blade Trinity to set up a spin off Hannibal King Abigail Whistler Nightstalkers film series, which never happened. The film has some good parts, so it's not a total loss. |

van helsing..
Years ago when Siskel and ebert were on.. they did a show where one movie almost made them quit being a critic.. I didn't think that movie was bad.. it was She is out of control with Tony Danza. around 1989. van helsing is my movie where I wanted to quit liking movies. Regardless if you like the movie Troy with Brad Pitt. it was an Oscar winner compared to van helsing. Jacob |
