No thankfully.
It’s just a dated master and needs an upgrade.

It's part of HMVs 3 for £20 / 5 for £30, so depending on which one you go for it'll either be £6 or £6.60ish. I never liked the changed music in the director's cut. Much preferred the original. Same with The Outsiders director's cut, on a side note.:

Is this playable on Region 1 Stratford (or anyone else)? Are there any features/extras on the disc?

It says 'Region B' on the cover, extras wise there's only an interview with the director.

Thanks for confirming the interview with the director.

Stratford says it plays on Region 1 on the Blu-ray.com page for the release. And just an FYI - sometimes blu-rays that state Region B will play on Region 1 players - I've reported a few myself like Stratford did.

Beat me to it, was going to give this a spin today. I thought it being Universal it would be region free but this is the first Final Cut Blu I've bought so maybe they're region free or just their Universal titles?

Is this Directors Cut only, or is the Theatrical Cut also included? The Theatrical is on the Elephant disc (France), so just trying to narrow down whether I will get that or this.

Any final word on how this version compares to the French release, or is it the same?

Default plays on region A player

I can confirm that this does play on a region A player. As far as the quality, I thought it was decent and a definite improvement over the DVD.

Can't forget this when thinking about Mask:

[Show spoiler]

Seriously, excellent performances all round: Cher, Sam Elliott, Stoltz (obviously).

Anyone who has seen the theatrical version and the director's version, can you tell me which version is the "best"? and because.

By the way, the version of Universal Pictures for Spain has already been released, hopefully someone comments on the image quality of that release.

Edit: On May 8, 2020 the German Blu-ray will be released with the theatrical cut and the director's cut.

It’s going to depend on if you value authorial intent or theatrical release integrity. Both soundtracks have their strengths and weaknesses. I grew up on the Seger soundtrack but I recognize that it was always supposed to be Springsteen.

A release with both is clearly the correct choice and I am excited for more info. Hopefully it has English audio and plays on Region A equipment.
