great news but where did you get this info from? If its coming out in the UK then most likely it will get a US release around the same time

Why is everybody getting so excited? The trailer didn't mentioned anything about a blu-ray release at all. That trailer is an advertisement for a theatrical re-release this year and it's been remastered.

Because a rerelease will likely mean a new DVD and BD.

sorry guys hate to break it to yous but um that trailer was for the 2002 20th anniversary theatrical re-release. The op even stated it in his post. The Trailer even said "in Spring 2002" at the beginning and also showed March 2002 at the end. AND the remastered dvd came out in October of 2002. Nowhere did it mention a theatrical re-release for 2012. This does not confirm anything that is why I asked the op where he got his info from in my previous post above. As far as I know there is no confirmation of a blu-ray release date yet unless the op or someone else can provide us with some additional info that we may not be aware of.

I think what the op was trying to say in his original post was that this year is the 30th anniversary of E.T. so hopefully we are due for a 30th anniversary blu-ray since there was a 20th anniversary theatrical re-release in March of 2002, followed by the first dvd release of E.T. in October of 2002???

This info is from Universal themselves.

And according to the Universal 100th Anniversary list, the US will also get E.T. in Oct/Nov (can't remember which one).

Apologies if the trailer caused any confusion, it is indeed the trailer for the 2002 re-release, but as there is currently no Blu-ray 2012 trailer I thought I'd add that one until there is.

It's Universal. Even God prays about their back catalogue titles.

No CGI, no Walkie Talkies, no blinking Ewok's.... just the original theatrical version.

Speilberg has said he regrets doing the Anniversary edition, so we should be ok in thinking the Blu-Ray will at least include BOTH versions.

I seriously hope Universal treats this with respect, this film deserves a perfect transfer. And I'd like to think it will get one since Spielberg likes to supervise and approve the transfers for his films, but I know there were some who were disappointed with Jurassic Park's transfer, so I'm not getting my hopes up too high just yet.

Would be nice if it includes the original version without the cgi touchups. However they are not as intrusive on this than Star Wars.

But 2012 is great news for Spielberg fans - War Horse, Tin Tin, this, Empire of The Sun and most probably Jaws.

Can't wait! really hope we get the original version too, I hate the CGI updates. the current pint that has aired on ITV HD the past few years looks pretty bad, so I'm excited for a new transfer.

What about Indy trilogy? :P Or you think it won't happen this year?
