Tekken 7 has some good features to it. I still have my PS4 disc version, partly inspired to see what the PSVR version was like
[Show spoiler] Tekken 7 has had one of the longest DLC new content I've ever seen for a fighting game. Tekken 8, hopefully twice the roster with twice as many stages to pick from. I'd like to see it set up like an offline sports game, with exhibition seasons, then playoffs and final matches as they probably do with online stuff. What I like about Tekken is aside from the basic spark impacts, it's a somewhat more grounded fighting game that doesn't need tons of fancy glowing beams of plasma energy firing from the characters' hands every other second as in the Street Fighter series for example or even Mortal Kombat, where basic moves hardly matter anymore most times. This game relies on the basic moves most of the time from my playtime. Unless I really stink at this game. ![]() |

If I remember, in story mode for Tekken 7, you had to fight guards and soldiers too as you progressed. It's been years.

I've seen the PS4 version (playable on PS5) for $19.99, but haven't seen it drop below that price yet. |

Tekken games intimidate me no lie. Way too complex. Only fighters i really play are MK and Smash Bros though.....

That's a weird thing to say imo, because i technically think MK games are harder. I feel like Tekken is more forgiving to string the combos together for a lot of the roster whereas for MK it feels more technical to learn. Personally i was a Street Fighter kid and then it became Tekken as the main fighting game as i became older on PS1 and PS2.

Wasn't Tekken x Street Fighter meant to be released after Tekken 7 or something?
I guess I should give up on expecting that to come out. :-| That said, Tekken 8 will be incredible, no doubt. Heck, if they included tag mode it'd be even better (or they'll finally release Tekken Tag 3). |

Tekken x Street Fighter got put on hold some years back and it's been in development hell since.
Still kinda disappointed with T7 graphics, and no Ogre, but hopefully this'll fix both of those things ![]() Also can't wait to see what crazy look Yoshimitsu gets this time round. |

The business model that fighting games has adopted has soured me on the entire genre. This looks awesome but I just can't get excited as long as these games are nothing but a big microtransaction mess.

Back when arcades still existed, I rocked Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat. But I always loved playing Tekken. It was awesome, but I could never 'figure it out' because I didn't have any codes/combos. My first experience with combos was buying a homemade manual from some guy for MK. I should have asked if he had anything for Tekken.

I hope these are the real graphics during game play with those fancy camera angles for some moves.
Most of the characters are already in the game, but they keep adding new characters to purchase, though not as expensive as some other games from what I saw for T7. I almost never buy DLC characters. Games should have create a character modes as great as the one in Soul Calibur 6 for PS4. That game lets you play as the created character in any mode. Tekken, most times I am kicking and punching, watching some sparks fly, but there are some special moves in there sometimes with the right combination of inputs, but they look like regular moves most times as they don't have any big flashes of energy or anything to show they're special moves. I appreciate that the characters can stay upright most times and don't keep getting knocked over with every single attack. There are some fighting games where 80% of the time, someone is on the ground. Other games, the players are mostly still standing, trading punches and kicks, while some special moves that knock them over don't last more than a couple seconds so they get right back up. No cheap hit them while they're down attacks most times. That's one reason I really enjoy the Samurai Shodown 1 and 2 games, and 4, 5 and 6 are okay too. I'll have to revisit Tekken 7 to get used to the controls again. |
