Spain Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – 'Resurrection' DLC(2) Released in PAL/EU

Genre: Action-Adventure Players: Single-Player Rating: ESRB Mature, PEGI 16, CERO D
Released: OUT NOW on Blu-ray Disc

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow takes place at the end of days. The Earth's alliance with the Heavens has been threatened by a dark and malevolent force - the mysterious Lords of Shadow - darkness reigns the world. Across this shattered land, the souls of the dead wander unable to find peace, whilst creatures of evil roam free wreaking chaos and death upon the living.

Gabriel is a member of the Brotherhood of Light, an elite group of holy knights who protect and defend the innocent against the supernatural. His beloved wife was brutally murdered by the evil forces of darkness and her soul trapped for eternity. Neither living nor dead she realizes the horrific truth of what is at stake and guides Gabriel to his destiny - and hopefully salvation for the world... but at what cost?

Thus, Gabriel must travel the destroyed world, defeating the evil tyrants in order to use their powers to bring balance back to the world. Armed with the versatile Combat Cross - the world's last hope must encounter the three factions of the Lords of Shadow and end their unholy rule.

Gabriel Belmont (Robert Carlyle)

Some years ago, a child was found on the door of one of the Brotherhood of Light convents. It is not known who his original parents were though some suspected he was an unwanted bastard from a local wealthy landowner, most likely the Cronqvist family though this has never been proven.

The order gave the nameless boy the Christian name of one of the blessed archangels, Gabriel and raised him as one of its own members. The precocious child quickly proved to be extremely talented, developing a mastery of the fighting arts unprecedented in the Brotherhood.

Gabriel took the surname of Belmont, after his love of mountains and the high places of the World.

Prone to dark moods and occasional ambivalence, Gabriel was deeply affected by the death of his childhood sweetheart, Marie. Gabriel has embarked on this quest at the request of the elders of the Brotherhood rejecting the help of his comrades and stoking a burning desire for revenge.

Marie Belmont (Natasha McElhone)

Marie, the youngest daughter of a rich merchant family was always attracted by the courageous nature of the Brotherhood of Light lore; curious and lively, she often escaped her duties at home to watch the warriors' training at the monastery. During one of these visits she became acquainted with the man that would later become her husband, an orphan by the name of Gabriel.

The two youngsters were made for one another; they grew together and soon started to make promises of their future, promises that were always kept. One idyllic morning, with the blessing of both her family and the Brotherhood, the couple was married.

Marie was a good counterpoint to Gabriel's dark moods and often just her laughter was enough to blow away the gathering storm within him.

Whilst Gabriel was on a mission for the Brotherhood, Marie was murdered.

Zobek (Patrick Stewart)

If the recorded chronicles of the Brotherhood are to be believed, Zobek is one of their longest serving warriors. The list of heroic deeds attributed to him is as impressive as his vast knowledge of the art of war or indeed the mighty fighting skills he can deploy, despite his age.

His weapon of choice is a simple long sword which he handles with skill and alacrity. Strangely, he likes to use an old-fashioned uniform of the Brotherhood of Light that, according to him, was inherited from one of his ancestors; one of the founding members of the Brotherhood of Light.

Resurrection DLC Media

Fighting fire with fire.

You are different to other humans — None shall hold this weapon against me.

Enough talk...have at you!

I will crush you.

Puny human.

The gateway to your world is open.

The forgotten one.

Reverie DLC Media

The old Bernhard castle — Gabriel returns.

Use your boots to get across.

Why did you call me here? — You must become a creature like me.

This device opens a secret way.

How dare you attack me!

Beyond lies your destiny — Contemplating the abyss.

I need your help.

Laura's mercy.

How can I pass through?

Laura charges her attack.

There is nothing left for me here.

Use the founders' blood.

We must work together.

Teamwork.

big thing I'm worried about....

MercurySteam made Clive Barker's Jericho....and we all know how shitty that turned out...

hopefully Kojima will slap them around a bit and show them how to make a real game...
Quote:
Along with puzzle-solving and exploration elements, the title sports a weapon system, dubbed "Combat Cross," that allows a single weapon to perform a number of functions. For example, the Combat Cross can go from a stabbing weapon to a defensive device.

"Every element of the game pushes the host hardware to its limits," said Konami product planning head Dave Cox. "It is truly an epic game but telling a human and emotive story. This is a title we hope will set a new standard for action-adventure titles."

I know Dave Cox personally (albeit I haven't seen him in quite a long time). He was a very big fan of the SNES titles and the Symphony of the night follow up on the PSone. I remember he brought Dracula X (SOTN) round my house in 95 or 96 to show me and my friends what an awesome game it was.

I am hoping that Dave will produce the game to the same values that made Castlevania a huge franchise back in the day. Concentrating on the music score and feel of the game. Of all the Konami (Japanese developed) titles he has worked with, he always tries to keep the original Japanese feel. I would expect a very Japanese style cover and any extras the Japanese will get will tried to be carried over to the UK (Maybe the US too). Expect something special, not just a graphical nextgen looking game, but something with a bit of heart in it too

This game looks pretty amazing I hope they give us something along the line of SOTN. We need an in depth Castlevania with a good 3D engine.

Yeah, too many games out, or coming out that resembles God of War gameplay. For a franchise like Castlevania, I would expect it's own gameplay style. They should just revert back to side scrolling which made it popular back then.

Why when there are already 20+ Castlevania titles like that? You dont think Jaffee and the other creators of God of War were influenced by games like Castlevania?

Love the old Castlevania 2d games, though not a huge fan of the 3d ones. This one, however, looks quite interesting. And with Kojima's company involved, plus the awesome voice acting, this looks pretty darn good. I hope it is.

A lot of developers were. I know the team that made the original Devi May Cry for PS2 said they were.

Looks great. I read that the primary weapon in the game is going to be a cross instead of the whip. Not sure how that is going to work for the overall game, I will have to see.

Good thing is that from the pictures it looks like there is some kind of whip, lets hope so.

Short range weapon against supernatural opponents...that's a fantastic idea...
