lol: warner extends HD DVD support

god this is hillarious. they are acting like warner is going to release more movies or something. the 3 week "extension" is due to the fact that their last HD DVD will be on 5/27 instead of 5/06 due to their new policy of delaying EVERYTHING 3 weeks, not just day-and-date titles.

June 1 was the official drop-dead date for HD DVD, so this isn't actually an extension of any sort.

Yea, I thought that they will continue to support HD DVD THROUGH the month of May not until May. So yea, there really is not an extension at all.

although this news was reported on here... But this website is totally wrong.
And I also noticed that they never allow any comments. They have to be reviewed by an admin but they never accept any or review them.
This is a totally HD DVD biased site and they are completely wrong on this. HD DVD is not having 3 weeks more support, it is having 3 weeks longer between the Blu-ray and the HD DVD release.

you know whats funny is that hd-dvders are using this as a "OMG WARNER IS GOING TO STAY NEUTURAL OR GO HD-DVD EXCLUSIVE!!!!!111!!" and that the warner execs that made the announcement of going blu will be fired for their transgressions.......not knowing that the blu-ray exclusive kicks in at the END of may......poor guys actually think that warner is going ot change their minds at the last second.....

It's always smart to be aware that there is a chance of this happening, small or not.

There was a rumor posted in another forum that spoke to the fact that the HD DVD Group is trying to get WB to reverse its decision, and that current WB officials who made the BDA switch deal were going to be fired. And that WB was going back to neutrality or HD DVD exclusive in just 4 weeks. The poster claimed to be an insider.

Most people thought that the guy was a moron, but who knows?

Should that happen it wouldn't happen in four weeks, they would just quietly keep publishing HD DVD past the cutoff date and not really tell anybody (meaning, there may be a press release on their website and that's about it).

If they would do this it would be because BD has failed to gain a significant lead, if I'd be the BDA and Sony I'd be sweating bullets right now trying to either hit the numbers that Warner wants or because they have to guess what numbers Warner wants.

I would like to state that we have 20+ titles that will be released this year. We will continue to support the format. We would like to thank all of the AVS forum members for their support in 2007 and we look forward to their continued support in 2008.

Having worked at WHV for 5 years I know that employee turnover rates are very high. Watch for a complete reversal on their stance within 3 weeks. The group of WHV execs who have authorized these exclusivity statements will most likely be moving on soon. It appears that they overstepped their bounds in releasing the statement last week.

I think some of you guys here are misreading, the extension is for delaying HD DVD releases. BD and DVD would be released, then 3 weeks later the same movie gets released on HD DVD.
