Wow, I did not know this was coming out. My fond memories of it force me to watch it around every Christmas.

I might have to end up getting this at some point - though not on release date, I'm already buying 4 BDs on the 5th. The snow and heat misers are the best things ever!

Y'know, for all the people that "remember this special as a kid", I challenge you to find one person who remembers any OTHER scene from it?

(Insert "I'll Have a Blue Christmas" joke here. )

I'll be picking this up as well as his other classics Rudolph, Frosty, Frosty returns, and Santa Claus is coming to town when they come out in two weeks.

I can't wait to buy this next week. An all time favorite during the holiday season. Plus, it will have a slipcover.

Haha, I was actually thinking about that. I don't remember anything else about it, and it wasn't that long ago that I last watched it.

quite true! I actually saw this about 5 years ago, and to be honest, the only thing I remember, other than the 'Misers,' was that Santa Claus was sick. I do remember enjoying it though, and recall it being one of the better Rankin-Bass Christmas features.

Anyone get the movie and view it yet? This is my favorite Rankin Bass special. Not sure what the specs are: 1080p? Any enhancements or just a simple transfer from the DVD?

Wow, I'm surprised it was there! I don't have a Sam's Club membership, but now I wonder what other stores might be carrying this? All I know is that Best Buy isn't (or at least not now, maybe more stores will stock it around the holidays)...

Yesterday at SC was the first I've seen it anywhere. Was also at BB and Target, no luck there.

Those screenshots look surprisingly good.. I'll definitely be renting this over the holiday season, but I'll have to wait till it's in the $8-10 range before making a purchase.

Or you can get The Original Christmas Classics box set. It will cost $29.99. That's $10 for each title.

Major bump, but I just noticed that "The Year Without a Santa Claus" is *finally* Movies Anywhere eligible. It now joins a small number of Rankin/Bass titles on Movies Anywhere. Here's hoping more are added soon!
