I think that this one will be released by Criterion. Audiard was in the Criterion closet

Received my copy today from FNAC (along with Zig Zig, A Difficult Year & Auction (released in Australia as The Stolen Painting and packing them in at cinemas).
Have also discovered that Jim's Story, A Son Image and Holy Cow (released in mid-April) all have English subtitles, so here comes another order. ![]() A click flick through Read My Lips showed a beautiful restoration - really what more can I say. I look forward to watching the film (the first time since its cinema release) in the very near future. |

This new French disc is dramatically warmer than the very cool/blue German BR from 2011, or the old DVDs, especially in the skin tones. I'd always assumed the cold, often fluorescent look was intentional.
The review below from dvdclassik is generally quite positive, but they do note that it might be a bit strong in the red/magenta range in the warmer scenes. That said, the same review says this new restoration was overseen by both Audiard and cinematographer Mathieu Vadepied, so I can only assume it's more in line with their intentions... https://www.dvdclassik.com/test/blu-...dition-limitee Last edited by sidetracked1; 05-16-2025 at 06:11 AM. |
