Barnes & Noble Barnes & Noble Criterion and Arrow sale dates?

When does Barnes & Noble typically run the 50% off Criterion and Arrow sales?
Thanks

The B&N thread below generally has the dates of the sales. The last 2-3 Arrow sales have run simulataneously with the Criterion sales, but the Arrow was Online and even some of the in-store Arrows weren't discounted.

So then it looks like the next BN sale coming up is the 40% Sale, likely late this week or early next?

Usually starts the Tuesday before Fathers Day -- 16th this year.

MAJOR RED FLAG -- nobody knows if normal sales are occuring b/w new ownership and virus issues esp since this 40% sale is a major instore event.

Criterion Sale in July is an unknown -- will it occur at all, will it run as normal potentially starting the 26th, 30th or July 7 or will it be delayed 2-4 weeks.

The stores don't know yet and corporate has NEVER been forthcoming with sales dates, but I know of two rumors now that suggest it will not occur at it's normal date -- one suggested they'd skip it and aim for Nov, the other said is would start later than normal putting the Agnes Varda set into play

The two BNs closest to me have been promoting curbside pick-up for a while, but has anyone been in a store since re-opening?

I know the new owners were going to pull back on in-store media space pre-COVID and outside of "Since You Bought..." emails, I've not received anything promoting movies for quite a while.

Also curious: didn't the last Christmas sale (or was that on a LP sale, I forget) nullify the in-store 10% member discount claiming they were not going to go above the sale percentage (40% or 50% off).

I know there were a group of Christmas Items 50% OFF items that blocked the member discount, but none of the 40-60% off items I bought in NOV or Dec blocked them. I think some employees might have assumed the member discount was being blocked b/c of the discount, but other 50% items worked fine so that wasn't the actual reason

I would be disappointed if they end up delaying or cancelling the July 50% Criterion sale. My membership expires in the middle of July and was hoping to take advantage of it for the sale. I have absolutely no plans to renew it after it expires.

Not a peep. If an employee lets someone know I'll pass it on as soon as I hear, but I suspect we won't know for sure until someone steps into the store in the morning and checks.

The online 40% Banner MIGHT go live around Midnight, but the online hasn't always been a part of the June Sale especially. Even if that shows up, we won't know if the In-store will function like in the past -- all BD, some BD, DVDs are always hit or miss even in June, ? ship to home orders, which items will be included in the shiptohome (last December a distressing number of items were added to the nonparticipatory list), AND how the member discount will act.

No coupons at all right now though those haven't worked online anyway and in-store selection were hit or miss. I'm still hoping with FD weekend and stores officially creaking open there will be some sort of WELCOME BACK store coupon at least.

From the Criterion thread.

That's good and bad. Good for the sale, bad (sort of) or maybe just less good if it ends before Varda release. Hopefully it it starts 2 weeks later than the last couple years they'll consider extending the end date like they have several times in the past

It certainly fits more with my prior info of a sale with late start though it will nicer to see a couple indiependent confirmation since there have already been several back and forth

Can you tell us a source -- employee, manager, someone at Criterion, someone inside B&N Corp?

EDIT: I see a Reddit post showing a pic of a BN computer screen with a banner from the Sale, I can't find the original poster, but there have been 2 different Employees who have been 100% on their BN announcements in the past so this sounds a little more solid

That's good news. I can place one order in July then another one at the very end of the month.

I tried creating a new thread with this question, but I am apparently not allowed to start a new thread as a new member. Could someone who has new thread posting privileges please start a similar thread to my post? Thanks. I apologize for having to tack it onto an existing thread.

For the past several years, I have always looked forward to the Barnes & Noble 50% off sale. I always reserve some Christmas shopping for then, as that offered the best price I can find on British TV shows and movies. It always started as soon as the Criterion sale was over.

When I went to the Barnes and Noble site this year, I was extremely disappointed to see that they had apparently decided to have a 30% off sale instead of a 50% off sale. For this reason I had to do my British TV shopping elsewhere, as there were better prices at Best Buy and Target for some of the items I wanted, and was unable to recommend anything for my sister to get me. (I usually have a list off the Barnes and Noble website for her to choose something for me off of).

I have seen posts about a 50% British off sale at other times in the yea in years past. Does anyone know if there were any British 50% off sales since last year, or have they all been 30% off sales?

Do you think it is likely that Barnes and Noble will raise the discount from 30% to something better before Christmas, or is it likely to stay at only 30% off the entire Christmas season?

If there were other times it was 50% off in the past year, it looks like I may need to do some of my Christmas shopping at that time, and just save it back until Christmas.

I think you have to have at least 10 posts (and a day or 2 for the system to update) to create a thread.

I'm not sure what thread you want to create -- a 30% off British TV sale. I could do that, but I really don't see much purpose. If it's just a thread to talk about the lack of a sale, you're just as well off to discuss it here or better the Coupon thread where more people are likely to see it.

Deep Discount often has 45-55% off BBC/British TV sales AND a 15% Discount Code so even with membership and coupons, BN wasn't a much different unless you could stack some 20-30% discount Gift Cards too. For most TV Boxsets, I have to see at least a net 60-70% off MSRP to even be tempted with the steep discounts they get eventually.
