Default Once on Ultimate Pass, you are not getting off it easily

Hey all - not sure where to put this. Just off the phone with Xbox Live; Ultimate is cool but wanted to go back to regular Live.

So, you have to wait until your Ultimate pass ends. Have auto-renewal off. You have to manual cancel it first, then switch to regular. 'Been with Live 14 years; apparently I am going to have to risk starting over to get back on regular Live

Should not be this complicated.

Uh, I would just zero out the balance on my debit card and let it expire. If using an actual credit card, get yourself a debit card, place like $1.00 on it, update your credit card/debit card information, and wait for Microsoft to cancel your account. Not that complicated.

But the first option doesn't sound that complicated to me either:. Make sure auto renew is off, let it expire. Manually canceling seems like an extra step, but the last thing you'd want is to buy some gold and have it convert to less Ultimate time

But, there might be something screwed up with Microsoft. Unless I'm wrong on this, all companies who have recurring subscriptions are supposed to allow you a method for cancelling the subscription or changing from recurring to manual. Something is rotten with Microsoft because their whole excuse of "just uncheck auto-renew" just doesn't feel right.

There may even be some consumer fraud going on with Microsoft with them betting on the fact that most people won't bother to remove the auto-renew. I would strongly demand that Microsoft cancel your subscription, send them an email or record a chat session. If they still tell you the same line, then you really need to file a complaint with your state's attorney general office. I would then, also, file a complaint with the Consumer Fraud Protection Bureau. That's what these two entities are there for.

Lately, I've been getting harassed by a Democratic Campaign organization and filed a complaint with my state's election bureau. They forwarded my complaint to the State's Attorney General Office. I've had to deal with my SAG on two separate occasions, spanning around 10-15 years and they do get results. Sometimes, people don't know where to turn to when they're looking for results. When the SAG does its investigations and find a resolution, not only will the company personally contact you via mail but the SAG will send you all of the documentation they did on your compaint. They are very thorough.

You have to manually enable auto-renew when you pay for Game Pass etc, though. Doing it gives you one extra month when adding a prepaid card, from what I recall.
