Watched during the past few days an episode each of western series Sugarfoot (the very first episode "Brannigan's Boots") and Maverick (sampled an episode from the third season, "A Tale of Three Cities", where actor Jack Kelly was the lead character).
Despite the Maverick episode not having James Garner in it, I still enjoyed it and found Jack Kelly a likeable lead actor, and the story kept my interest. As for the first episode of Sugarfoot, I'm putting this western series on my list of WAC titles I want to eventually get. Very much liked the first episode (Dennis Hopper was among the guest stars). Hoping now that TCM Movies (UK) show Bronco, Cheyenne, Lawman and The Man from Shenandoah. One other thing, this UK TV channel doesn't squash up and talk over the end credits, which is a big plus in my book. |

I used to watch TCM from time to time. I remember going way back to the old pre-digital platform on Sky (mid-90's) when it was originally called TNT (Turner Network Television), and saw some great movies on there. What I also liked at that time was they showed the films in their original widescreen format when even Sky was still broadcasting their movies in pan-and-scan.

Have been checking Sky's TV listings in the past week for the fourth season of Maverick and the second season of Sugarfoot. Nothing yet for the former (hopefully the channel will move onto the fourth season), but with the latter the second season starts this coming Wednesday morning at 11.15 am, repeated on early Thursday morning at 6.50 am.

With Roger Moore (!) replacing James Garner (this was just before the Saint started). Looking forward to both this and the continuation of Sugarfoot. With the demise of Forces TV on 30 June, I'll have little else to watch! ![]() |

Watched last night, the first episode of Sugarfoot's second season (episode "Ring of Sand"). Among the guest stars, the only actor I recognised straight away was Ed Byrnes. I recognised one of the other villains, played by an actor who was one of the lead actors from another Warner Brothers western series, Lawman (John Russell).
The first episode of Maverick's fourth season (episode "The Bundle from Britain") is being shown on TCM Movies next Wednesday afternoon (29th June) at 12.20 pm - 1.30 pm, then again a week today (Thursday 30th June) at 7.55 am - 9 am. Source of the second paragraph above: Sky's TV listings. |

Enjoyed watching last week, the Sugarfoot episode "Trial of the Canary Kid". Got involved in the storyline (which had a slight comedic side to it), but (and I missed or didn't recognise some of the actors) there were also crossover appearances by actors from other (at the time) Warner Brothers western series. I checked the IMDb page for this Sugarfoot episode, and the crossover appearances included Adam West as Doc Holliday (recognised him), Peter Brown from Lawman (recognised him) and actors from Bronco (a character was being challenged to a fight outside a saloon) and Colt.45. Not sure why (clearance issues?), but Colt.45 hasn't had any manufactured-on-demand DVD releases by the Warner Archive Collection (compared to Bronco, Cheyenne, The Dakotas, Lawman, Maverick and Sugarfoot).

While checking the listings for TCM Movies next week, I found out that the fourth and final season of Sugarfoot starts on the channel next week. The season premiere (episode "The Shadow Catcher") is first being shown next Wednesday morning (17th August) at 11.15 am - 12.20 pm.
Source: Sky's TV listings. Cutback, have you heard if any other Warner Brothers western series will start on TCM Movies after Sugarfoot and Maverick finish on the channel? |

Have checked TCM Movies UK's listings for next week, both on Sky's TV listings section and in the new issue of TV & Satellite Week magazine, and sadly after their repeat run of Sugarfoot and Maverick both end next week, they're not showing some different series. The listings for next Monday would be different anyway because of it being a Bank Holiday. But after that, have checked and it's some films replacing both of the aforementioned western series. Was hoping for Bronco and Cheyenne (both series, along with Sugarfoot I'm aiming to get the Season 1 DVD sets of. In the WAC thread I started in DVD Movies, I posted last week that the WAC started on the series Cheyenne with the second season (Warner Home Video released the first season on DVD in the States (I try not to repeat myself too often with what I say. Can't be helped sometimes).

![]() ![]() ![]() I can see why TCM Movies are showing two episodes each day from Monday to Friday (seven seasons and over a hundred episodes). I'm glad they're continuing with the western TV series (the loss of Forces TV is still fresh in the memory, so having TCM Movies and Talking Pictures TV flying the flag for older TV series which don't get shown by other channels, is reassuring). Usually the TV listings only go as far as a fortnight. When I used to contact for example Channel Five about a programme, I would be told the usual reply of (something along the lines of) "we only have the listings for the next fortnight. I'll certainly be sampling a few episodes of Cheyenne. |

Secondly, whilst all the action shots were clearly lifted from an old Warner Bros movie, the actual shots from the episode were clearly made at the legendary Vasquez Rocks! Having been there myself in 2012 (and found the flat area in front of the rocks to be a car park(!) for the national park, I spotted it instantly. No Gorn creatures appeared in either the Cheyenne episode or during my visit. Much to my disappointment... |

I didn't spot James Garner in the first episode "Mountain Fortress". One actor looked familiar, who passed away two months ago, L.Q. Jones. And yes, some nice locations in the first episode of Cheyenne. You sound like you know your stuff about the series. ![]() |

The fourth season of western drama series Cheyenne (a shorter season this one, consisting of thirteen episodes) starts on TCM Movies a week today (the second of the double bill airing on Wednesday 12th October).
Noticed with the episode I watched last Wednesday, the third season premiere "Incident at Indian Springs" (as I'd forgot how many seasons of Cheyenne aired in the States before Maverick and Sugarfoot started - they started the same season as Cheyenne's third season) that it's title sequence was changed to fit with that of Maverick and Sugarfoot's. The fifth season of western drama series Cheyenne (like with the previous season, consisting of thirteen episodes, because I think it aired in rotation with Bronco and Sugarfoot) starts on TCM Movies UK a week on Friday (the first of the double bill airing on Friday 21st October).
Source: the new issue of TV & Satellite Week magazine. Have got the first episode of the fourth season recorded (episode "Blind Spot"). Hopefully will watch it tonight or tomorrow. |

The penultimate, sixth season of western drama series Cheyenne (consisting of fourteen episodes, airing in rotation with Bronco and Sugarfoot) starts on TCM Movies UK a week today, the second of a double bill (Monday 31st October) at 12.25 pm - 1.30 pm.
Source: Sky's TV listings. Watched last night another airing of the Season 5 premiere "The Long Rope". Very good season opener (the title of the show in the title sequence was changed to The Cheyenne Show, with Bronco and Sugarfoot). |

The final, seventh season of western drama series Cheyenne (consisting of thirteen episodes, airing in rotation with Bronco) starts on TCM Movies UK a week tomorrow (Wednesday 9th November).
Source: the new issue of TV & Satellite Week magazine. I'll update this post tomorrow once I know which of the double bill is the season 7 premiere (the listing in the aforementioned TV listings magazine is a bit confusing). |
