I held off of buying it because it just didn't interest me like the 360 did, that one had a great bulky library to play with. Even w/ that one, I held off a couple of years just so the quirks could be knocked out of the system by that point. And it seemed like it had the "better" versions of the multi-platform games.
Still haven't gotten the Switch, which I will at some point cuz supposedly there's a beefier version of it coming, at some point. I got the PS4 Pro in 2018. Again waited for those issues to be worked out. However, the One didn't attract me so much based off of what was available for exclusive titles. I still want to follow through w/ Halo and Gears. But I can't think much of beyond that. Cool that it was it a UHD player too. At this point though, I want to fall back into the Xbox world. I've no qualms w/ the system itself, it's fine and dandy. But... What makes the Xbox One worth buying at this point? |

So you listed your own point against getting it (lack of exclusives), but say you want to get into it. So what's making you consider it?
I would say the One itself isn't worth buying, and I would wait for a series X/S...just because they release so soon, and it basically future proofs you with Microsoft. Edit: Right now I have a Day One xbox one, and really just play with my friends, (Call of Duty, Rainbow 6 and Fallout 76). Besides that, it wouldn't make a difference what system I game on. |

If you want disc based games then it is tbe cheaper option. A 1S or 1X if you can find one gives you that option. New games will still be playable for a while as well. My 360 died toowards the beginning of the year so i broke down and got a 1S. If you are hooked up to the internet many 360 games are backwards compatible as well. I dont care about native 4K for gaming so the 1S is fine.

Honestly? I thought the same. But then, I realized that every console that has been released since X-Box 360 and Playstation 3 have seen problems with getting those consoles in stores. Since I've been on disability, I needed something that I could play and the X-Box One was my first console since they stopped making the PS2.
I also knew that getting my hands on a Playstation 5 or an X-Box Series X were going to be next to impossible to get during the first year. After seeing how Sony screwed the pooch on their PS5 launch and that the PS5's were all scooped up and posted on eBay for anywhere from $700-$1,000, there is no way in hell that I would pay that. I would say that getting your hands on one during the first year of the consoles release would be next to impossible. The same thing is probably going to happen with the X-Box Series X. Honestly, it will be at least a year before these new consoles are sufficiently saturated in retail outlets. I purchased my X-Box One about six months ago and I'm enjoying it. I've purchased about four games for it and have plans on purchasing a dozen more. |

Just wait until/if an XSX is worth it. Unless money is super tight, really no reason to get an Xbox One or PS4 at this point since the new consoles are backwards compatible and run last gen games better.
As for reasons to get an Xbox, for me it's: 1. Gamepass. I still buy games on PS5 and Switch, but Gamepass is great for filling the gaps between big releases I'm excited to buy day one. Saves me money buying games I wasn't super stoked for just to fill those gaps and lets me discover games I end up loving since there's no added cost to downloading and trying things out. 2. I like a decent amount of MS exclusives. Halo, Gears, Forza Horizon, Ori etc. 3. I'll likely enjoy even more exclusives of theirs going forward with all their acquistions, especially Bethesda Games. |

Game Pass is a big advantage...I've kept it for the most part for the last few years (other than letting it lapse for a while as I played more PS4 games). Release day availability for a lot of titles is great...I wanted to play Outer Worlds, but was hesitant on spending the $60 for the new game. I signed up for the $15 three month trial of Game Pass and played through the game once, so gamepass saves you some money simply if you get a game from it every couple months that you would have purchased normally. EA Pass recently getting added to it gives you even more bang for your buck. I prefer the offset joysticks on the controller to the side-by-side on Playstation... There are definitely bugs being ironed out in the Series X, as with any new system, but I haven't run into anything game breaking (other than Cyberpunk...which...is the game's fault, not the system's). |
