I was just curious as to why no one is talking about this film.

It was released on August 6th, I just watched it. I thought it was pretty good if you haven't watched ANY of the "Paridise Lost" series. However it did a great job of summing them up and adding a few extra bits here and there, especially the huge focus on the new evidence that was partially touched in the Paradise Lost 3 doc.

What did everyone else think?

Saw this last week. An engrossing and fascinating documentary. The 2 1/2 hours flew by.

Personally, I thought it paled in comparison to the PARADISE LOST series. If you do some reading on this too, you will see Peter Jackson and his filmmakers were basically signing witnesses, investigators, and participants to exclusivity deals so they couldn't be in Paradise Lost 3. That's why a lot of the Terry Hobbs info was in West of Memphis and barely mentioned in Paradise Lost 3. I think if the info in West of Memphis was edited into Paradise Lost 3, you would have had a perfect film.

I seriously doubt the film makers for Paradise Lost have the bank that Peter Jackson has, that's simply why the information was better because he could do it. To be honest I'm thankful for his involvement at all because he was the only reason they were free in the first place. Not saying others didn't help along the way, but his fat wallet made the biggest dent.

Agreed and no 'I'm such a powerful and wonderful celebrity because I helped get them out' bullshit that was all over this film.

The word humble is obviously not in these people's vocabulary and they actually make me so ill watching it which took away from my enjoyment of the film.

I am confused. I bought a Region 1 U.S. Blu-ray copy of West of Memphis on Amazon Marketplace. It came shrink-wrapped and looks totally legit, includes a bunch of Sony trailers at the beginning, has a fully animated main menu, etc., but I can't seem to find the special features on the disc. Did anyone else have this issue? I'm totally perplexed.

Seems like somehow you received a rental only edition of the film. Shame too as I just got done watching every extra and there is lots of great content.

Yes, got it for 16.99 plus shipping...but pretty miffed. I really wanted to watch the commentary.

I would definitely try to get my money back or return the item if no note was made of it not having features. The commentary is ok but it is the deleted scenes and panel discussions that to me were very valuable, informative , and interesting

Arrgh! The US is the only country with a BR release... And it's Region A locked!
Saw the DVD in Target here in Australia for $16. The price is right for a DVD, but would still prefer the Blu-Ray. I can play Region A BR, but would prefer Region Free (or A,B) to lend to others. Will have to purchase it later when I order South Park S16 BR (which is only in North America too!). Might just have to also tack on the original Battlestar Galactica, Fletch, Miami Vice (Director's Cut) and Devil's Advocate to the order (eclectic, I know).

Watched the HBO Paradise Lost documentaries and I am really interested in Peter Jackson's take in this documentary... Amazing how a community can be so blinded when looking for justice, how overzealous the police can get when trying to assure safety and how hypnotised a town can get around the "spectre of satanism". A community brainwashed into thinking the unbelievable IS unbelievable that this can happen in our modern age.

I think this makes a great companion piece to the Paradise Lost films, I kind of would like a BD set of the three PL films to go with it. Its all pretty powerful and well worth watching.

This one was good and a good companion to the Paradise Lost films, but I wish those films would get a Blu-ray release despite having lots of shot on video footage.
