Default WTF Hollywood

Could not find a place to post this. So if wanted this can be used to post things in Hollywood that makes no sense.

Sienna Miller says Chadwick Boseman gave her some of his salary on '21 Bridges' so she could be paid fairly for the movie

Pay disparity isn’t just a problem in Hollywood. But that’s cool of him to do!

Very true, just so ridiculous that an actor has to help pay or another actor.

The Big Bang Theory:

For the final season, the five original stars each gave up $100,000 per episode intending it to go towards raises for Byalik and Rauch, according to The Hollywood Reporter. That’s $2.4 million each for the season. THR said Rauch and Byalik were likely to earn $425,000 per episode.

That’s actually the normal for Hollywood to pay less for a woman than a man, agents don’t mean bubkiss.

Michelle Williams’ pay for All The Money In The World really highlights the discriminatory pay scales.

Coming of Black Panther he was probably a bigger box office draw than Miller and was thus paid more. Had his co-star been Jennifer Lawrence or Scarlett Johansson he would of been the one getting paid less. Plus the situation was the Bosman really wanted her for the role and she herself was feeling burnt out and wasn't sure she even wanted the role, so she asked for more than she normally would have as extra compensation. Bosman wanted her enough that was willing to pay the extra that the studio wouldn't in order to get her. It's not like she wasn't being offered a fair amount to begin with.

On the other end of the pay scale scale, when Pacino wouldn't lower his salary demand for Devil's Advocate, Keanu Reeves took a pay cut so they could afford him.

Chadwick Boseman acquired star power because Black Panther was the biggest thing in the world at the time. Sienna Miller needed a better agent decades ago, because she was never a star. Chadwick Boseman gets more money for the movie.

Now Sienna Miller has to talk about him to make the headlines...

Jennifer Lawrence got more money than Chris Pratt for Passengers. Why? Because she had (has?) more star power than him.
and now has is faded into oblivion.

Gillian Anderson was paid less than David Duchovny during the original run of The X-Files. I think she eventually bridged the gap, but it took several years. Interestingly, it seemed like Duchovny was a bit of a diva, making the production move from Vancouver to Los Angeles in season 6 before leaving the show soon after at the end of season 7. Meanwhile, Anderson was a trooper and toughed out the entire run.

When it came time for the revival a few years back, Anderson was reportedly offered half of what Duchovny was offered. Which is crazy, because at this time Duchovny was kind of washed up and needed it, while Anderson was thriving with Hannibal, The Fall, American Gods, etc. Since Anderson walked away from The X-Files in 2018, her career has been going strong (especially with NetFlix's terrific Sex Education), meanwhile Duchovny's only credit since is Blumhouse's direct-to-VOD remake of The Craft.

See, and the way I read the article, it was one of the film's producers helping to pay an actor because, you know, isn't that one of the things that producers do on a film?

I think Duchovny has been leaning hard into his music. All i know for sure is Aquarius deserved a longer run.

Which kind of pushes aside the star power argument.

I think male actors have bigger (star power) than female actors in general. Maybe its Hollywoods fault forr pushing male leads or maybe its the audience of Hollywood that want male leads, especially in blockbuster action films. Female roles in dramas are just as vital as males but they don't bring in the big bucks

Star power for the most part does not exist. Chris Hemsworth is the prime example of this.
