Default Mega Man: Upon A Star (DVD Release by ADV)

I've recently became somewhat interested in anime content of Mega Man, and while "A Hero is Born" was pretty dang terrible and laughable, this looks so, SO much better!

There's just one problem, this is out of print and hard to find for a good price.

That said, I hope Discotek can make their own release like they did with the infamous Mega Man series.

By the way, it makes me wish everyone just called him and the series as Mega Man than Megaman (which is correct, too) so the search results would show up all in one. This kinda reminds of Dragon Ball Z and Dragonball Z (again, both are correct).

You know, what we know as "SONIC the Hedgehog: The Movie" was originally a three episode OVA, apparently.

Don't know why in the West they made these unnecessary changes.

Also Tekken The Motion Picture, Casshan Robot Hunter, Gundam Wing Endless Waltz(though Sunrise did that themselves after releasing it as an OVA series), Legend Of Crystania and there is probably others.

It might have something to do with VHS since during the VHS era even TV Anime were being released like DBZ in a Marathon Play format instead of each episode being its own. With DBZ you only got the Next Episode Preview at the end of the VHS tape or DVD but for the other episodes you could only watch all of the next episode previews on Toonami. But for something that could fit on a single VHS tape, they must have felt to just make it look like a movie.

I'll buy it again on Blu-ray if it comes with the soundtrack.

The Japanese release goes for more than the US release on the used market (in Japan) in my experience—$100+ in general

No idea, it’s just a relatively scarce release in Japan too, so it goes for a premium second hand.

*BTW, if we are talking about “Upon a Star” like I assumed we were, I don’t see any evidence that the Japanese release has the English dub or subs included.

It definitely could, but that would be pretty abnormal in my opinion.
