Default The Thing (1982) vs. Blade Runner (1982)

The only thing they have in common is that both underperformed at the box office. Which one delivers your type of cinematic goods?

Both are incredible movies, but I will give the edge to Blade Runner due to how many times I have rewatched it (The Thing I can only watch every other year for Halloween season).

Man, I love these both and remember that they opened on the same Friday back in June of 1982...I opted for THE THING on that opening day and caught BLADE RUNNER the next week on an appropriately rainy afternoon. Two irrefutable classics, but I'm giving my vote to Ridley Scott's masterpiece.

Kinda depressing to see that first post as I used to own original one-sheets of those iconic posters...used to.

Both fantastic movies, but I have to give it to Blade Runner, because Rutger Hauer, that amazing theme song and the cinematography are all phenomenal, plus Deckard's Spinner is awesome vehicle design. Not to mention the world building how replicants help build civilizations on other planets.. the bigger picture is absolutely mind boggling.

What can I say, I like dystopian futures.

Number 5 and 6 on my all time list. Pretty much interchangeable. Today it’s the Thing tomorrow could be Blade Runner.

Damn, both in my Top 100 but don’t know if I can pick. The Thing is more up my alley of genre, but Blade Runner...I feel like Blade Runner makes more mistakes but also reaches for something greater & has higher highs. It’s too tough to split honestly.

Excuse me, but how is The Thing winning??? It's a great film, don't get me wrong, but Blade Runner is the best film ever made. Goodbye.
