Hello,
I am a new owner of the Sony BDP-S6700 and I have a couple questions with the settings. 1. For the 4K Output, there is Auto 1, Auto 2, and off. Which one would be the one to choose when the player is connected to a Samsung 4K TV? I've heard to choose Auto1 for Sony TV's, but I am getting mixed opinions on it. 2. Should SBM (Super Bit Mapping) be turned on or off? I haven't seen anyone ask this either. 3. Should HDMI Deep Color Output be kept on or turned off? I have heard to turn it off because Blu-rays do not support it, but let me know. Thanks! Dan |

A majority of the time, people have said that Auto 1 is meant for Sony TV's, and I have not really noticed any difference either.

I have a s6700 and think its a great bd player. I have a sony x930d but think its a little messed up because when i put it on enhanced hdmi setting it messes up the
Sdr picture quality so i have to leave it on standard. My setting is 4k output off as i think it looks better that i leave my tv to do the upscaling instead. Sbm i left it on and deep color output i left it at 10 bit but i think auto would be just fine for you. It also depends whats your resolution. I left mine on original resolution. |

If you have alot of dvds then you can leave it on auto 2 because you have a samsung tv, honestly though to me it looks better with it off but that could be just me.

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has experienced intermittent blackouts on their bdpS6700 player? happens 15-25 minutes when watching a blu-ray. No picture but sound is there. blackout happens for about 4-5 seconds. I have tried changing to high speed hdmi cables but nothing works. By the way, my connection is as such : BD player > AMP > TV. Any advise is appreciated! thanks. |

I seem to have lost the remote instructions for mine, but I remember them being straight forward. Blue for region B ( I am A). Open the tray hold the button (In my case blue) the play the disc. It is not playing my region B discs. Am I missing something?

The way I usually do it. Player off (tray automatically closed), press and hold blue button for a second or two. Player automatically powers on, open tray and insert disc. |

Power on Tray open, press blue button play movie. Not working on my end, so I e-mailed them again to see if there is anything else I can do. |

I'm going to assume this isn't a player modded by 220-electronics or Bombay?
Unfortunately different mods may have different instructions. Have you done a firmware update recently or changed any other settings? Is QUiCK Start turned on? Unplug the Player overnight? Have you done a full Factory RESET though I'm not sure I'd that not knowing the exact mod? Here's the instructions I think I got with mine 1) Make sure Quick Start Mode is off!! 2) Make sure your player is OFF before you press the button to change the region code. You don’t have to change the region for DVDs It is set to region free for DVDs. You only need to change it for Bluray discs. Turn off the player. For Sony models, press Yellow for Region A, Blue for Region B, Red for Region C. When you do that, the player will turn ON. And it will be ready to play the disc. |

This is a 220 player. I updated the firmware yesterday. I will need to check quick start. / Just checked / quick start is off / Factory reset / Still not working.
By the way I appreciate the input. Last edited by Jessie; 10-25-2020 at 04:14 AM. |

I've never heard of a 220 Sony that could change the region while powered on, but possibly they changed the mod at some point. Luckily 220 has a lifetime warranty on their region modding if I remember. |

I'm 99% sure the Sony doesn't have a disc memory function and that should have been erased when you reset the player, but if you have a USB attached remove it, power cycle and./or go into the settings and Delete BD Data under the BD/DVD menu I guess a couple other things to try -- what happens if you try an A-locked disc after you've done the steps to change to B? Many Criterions (not all) are A-locked just for an easy disc Try changing to region C and see what happens when you try an A-locked and B locked disc -- obviously neither should play. The change to B -- try both discs again Back to A - just for completeness Last edited by hariseldon; 10-25-2020 at 06:36 PM. |
