Saw this as a kid in the 1970s when it along with the Yul Brenner sequel played a double bill at a Saturday matinee. Sabata is a badazz. Really enjoyable Spaghetti western. Fans of Sergio Leone will love this.

Bought the Explosive Media Disc! Assuming this will be the same transfer which is not at all a bad thing.

While I really try to make a concentrated effort to support all Spags on R1 bluray, I can't say I like Sabata enough to own it. I might have to wait for a price drop.

I might just buy out of support for the subgenre though.

i've preordered at that price. not had any kino BDs, so don't know about typical pre-order levels, or where they drop to over time. it's about £10+ postage, so pretty good.

In Germany this disc was released alongside Death Rides a Horse. I would've much preferred that Kino released that movie. More spaghetti is never a bad thing, but the price needs to come down on this.

Those who pre-ordered got it for $16.99.

Review is up https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Sabat...104004/#Review

Comparing screenshots with the German release I like the Kino release better

The plot to this film sounds a lot like Bad Day At Black Rock, a new favorite of mine. I'll grab this when I have some extra cash - everything is currently tied into Scream Factory and other stuff.

Watched the Blu-ray this weekend. Excellent PQ and the sound is good too. Lots of dry dusty colors, typical of Spaghetti Westerns shot in Spain.

This was my first viewing of Sabata since I saw it as a kid in the 1970s. I did not remember much about it, except that it was a really cool and exciting film to a ten year old. Wow....I did not remember how over-the-top it is. Imagine Sergio Leone ramped up to almost cartoonish levels of violence and gun play. Viewing it now as an adult, I realize how much it parodies the genre and is loaded with dark humor.

Lee van Cleef is steely eyed and cool as the title character bounty hunter Sabata. He is surrounded by a cast of unusual and memorable characters. Mix in elements out of a series like The Wild, Wild West with the standard Spaghetti Western staples of impossibly fast and accurate shooting, short cigars, and dynamite, and you get one explosive (literally) movie. In fact, I would argue this is a kind of Grindhouse western. If you made a drinking game out of the body count, you would be dead drunk before it is over. Definitely a movie you won't soon forget.

Viva, Sabata!

Good to hear this is a good quality release, I've never seen it but I'm keen to add more spaghetti western's to my collection and this one sounded exiting. Thankfully it has good enough PQ/AG it can go on my wishlist, i'll probably wait for a sale of some kind though.

Default Slipcover?

Could anyone tell me if this release (Sabata, blu-ray, Kino) indeed comes with a slipcover? Thanks in advance!

I was late in knowing this was coming out, forgot to preorder it @ 16.99.

I can't in good faith pay 27 when I have seen it at 16.99, so I will have to wait until the price drops on this one.

I was really looking forward to watching this to, time to play the waiting game.
