USA Death of a Unicorn (2025) 4K UHD (A24 Films)

Update (5/12/25): Looks like A24 won't be releasing a 4K of this afterall. A Blu-ray only release has just gone up at A24.

https://shop.a24films.com/products/d...28a5c488&_ss=r

A new 4K listing just went up at B&N for A24's upcoming film Death of a Unicorn (2025), starring Jenna Ortega, Paul Rudd, and others. The tentative release date listed is July 8th. B&N have a tendency to post A24 releases prematurely, which sometimes gets removed until A24 announces it themselves. I'll update the post when more info comes out

Quote:
When a man and his daughter accidentally hit and kill a unicorn with their car, his boss tries to exploit the creature's miraculous curative properties -- with horrific results.
Note: Just a heads-up, another member noted that they felt like they watched the whole film from this trailer, so please be aware of that.

With this and Warfare it feels pretty definitive that their Lionsgate deal is done and they're either gonna put their movies out themselves or not at all

Seeing this Friday night with the better half. Looks like it takes a hard right into more horror-ish territory in the second or third act. I'm sure I'll be adding it to my collection.

Felt like I watched the entire movie from the trailer. I can't stand that. These kind of movies should be teased and nothing more.

That is annoying. I only watched a little of it. I'll add a warning above it that it perhaps gives too much away.

Not sure. It's possible the listing was an error, or A24 dropped plans to do a 4K as well. This did go up the same day as the Warfare's 4K listing did, and that was just announced today, so we'll have to wait till A24 announces this one to see what's planned.

That's not an announcement or anything it basically amounts to "we have no news but this is coming soon" which is what a lot of news here is, just aggregating Amazon and other sources until an official announcement is made.

Hm, I wonder why they nixed the 4K release. It had a UPC (810180991100) and everything. Will request this to be moved to the wishlist section.

Wish I loved this movie more than I did because that is some killer front cover artwork.

I agree, the artwork IS cool. I also think it sucks there's no 4K release. Funny thing, I'm still waiting for the 4K release of Licorice Pizza.

Like Licorice Pizza, I bet there will be a streaming version of Death of a Unicorn in 4K.

Damn, it sucks that this isn't getting a 4K. I'd be ordering direct from A24 in a heart beat. I really dug this when I finally got around to it last week. I often wonder how they make these weird format decisions.

Fingers crossed it'll get a 4K somewhere else in the world.

Like Wrath of Man or Cocaine Bear, I will wait for a later 4K from them or a boutique. I'm not biting on the 2K when that 4K may come out in a year. This movie needs the 4K. I enjoyed it a lot.

I caved and bought the blu direct from A24. I'm all about 4k, but gonna grab what there is for now and if A24 decides to play the "We'll release this in 4K six months from now" game, I just won't buy recent blus from them anymore.
