Something Funny Is Happening on This Freeway! Welcome to Ticaw, Florida, a tiny town just off the highway with big dreams of attracting huge tourist dollars. But when construction of the new freeway leaves them without a crucial exit ramp, the desperate townsfolk decide to take motor matters into their own hands. Now with the help of a water-skiing elephant, a rampaging rhino, some well-placed explosives and an invasion of very odd travelers, this busy freeway is about to take one extremely strange detour. It is. I've discussed it before but it's recommended for anyone who likes Cannonball Run / Rat Race / It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World type comedies.

First film I ever saw on cable TV, summer 1982 (age 15). No commercials or edits and kept cracking up at all the swearing, something that was new coming over our TV.

Funny as hell film. Just watched Kino disc and it looked great. If you like 80's comedies then check this out.

I live about 1,056 miles from Ticlaw, Florida but the trip there was tons of fun!!

If you have seen HONKY TONK FREEWAY you will get the reference if you have not you really need to watch the movie, it's an outlandish cross country trip to the craziest small town in America. HONKY TONK FREEWAY also features an all-star cast (most of them were not stars yet but became stars later. There is even a small part with Ralphie from Christmas Story

This film is an 80's Blast from the past and I can't recommend it enough.
