Default The Watcher in the Woods (2017) Remake

Caught wind of this yesterday. It's a remake and will air on Lifetime 10/21/17.
Quote:
Executive producer and director Melissa Joan Hart reimagines the '80s cult classic "The Watcher in the Woods," starring Academy Award winner Anjelica Huston as Mrs. Alywood, a distraught mother, whose daughter Karen vanished in the English countryside over 20 years ago.

Why? The original, despite Disney doing their best to destroy it, is a masterpiece.

This looks so beyond generic. The original had real vision, atmosphere and was creepy as all hell, despite all of its BTS issues.
But really, this is the Lifetime network we're talking about here. Their movies have been one large punchline that's been going on for years now to the point of parody.

That question is the same for pretty much all remakes. My only wish, like most remakes, is that the original might, just might get released on blu-ray after renewed interest from a remake. But it's Disney, so they'll miss the boat.

On Blu-ray, with the original ending restored.

Sadly that will never happen.

Not surprised. Disney could’ve easily have just licensed something like Somg of the South to a label like Short or Anchor Bay for a proper release and not have their hands “dirty” with it. Why they won’t do that? Because Disney prefers to profit on their own films. Thank God for studios like WB, Columbia, etc for at least letting their catalog be released by other labels like Criterion and having respect for the consumer by not withholding a release after a period of time. Don’t they know that just increases the pirating they condemn so damn much?

Anyway, on topic, I have no interest in this. The Anchor Bay release is the only version for me.

This looks pretty atrocious, and about what I'd expect from Lifetime. Why can't they again do something as gloriously campy as their remake of Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?, complete with lesbian vampires and James Franco?

Seeing as how the 1980 original with Bette Davis will probably never make it to Blu-ray (Di$ney being a pile of s*#$ and all) I was lucky to find a Used-Like New copy of the Anchor Bay DVD from 2002 for $19.99 plus free shipping. I rarely buy DVDs anymore, but this is one of those special situations.
