I always assumed they just wanted to put their own spin on the emblem, but then they used the traditional one for marketing purposes. I don't think it's ever addressed in the DVD/BD/UHD featurettes. Maybe it's addressed in Tim Burton's commentary, but I wiped it from my memory because it was so dull.

I always found it weird seeing the Batman mask and cowl is one piece, therefore keeping the head from turning properly.

I found out the answer that's been bugging me for years!
It was producer Jon Peters who demanded a change to the chest logo because he thought the simpler design (minus the extra 2 spikes) looked like an "open mouth" lol. ![]() |
