I just got a new Sony OLED with the high end sound bar with rear speakers and sub. Preference is theatrical, but I have had a Pioneer Elite plasma with nice speakers forever. They are not going away, and I have to say that Pioneer may be 20 years old and has never had a single issue once. Got a massive, massive deal on the new Sony system, and it is going into a very small room that is a perfect rectangle with solid wood floors, walls, and ceiling. Audio is more important to me than visuals, and I have loved how the plasma looked more theatrical but it is time to embrace new technology. I know the audiophile in me in inconsistent with sound bars, but I did like the demo, and this is all going into a new room that wires would not work. So I have to pick out a movie to be the first. I know I should get an Atmos disk, but I wanted an older film to see how HDR works, so I had to pick something that is classic, Oscar (maybe Pulitzer) worthy, with a good soundtrack (actually, probably the best soundtrack). So the pick is:
[Show spoiler] Tom Hanks once said that Citizen Kane was not the best film ever made. That was Jason and the Argonauts. I think my pick has them both beat. |
