Germany Halloween (1978) Concorde - Feb 28th, 2019

Concorde are releasing this in Germany end of the month.

Wonder if they'll use the correct mono?

Someone noted this in the main Halloween thread, thanks for starting a topic here.

My German isn't the greatest but I think it actually *says* something about it having the original mono for the first time, so now I'm verr interest. Concorde are pretty good with their encodes and whatnot as well so I might have to order this.

It's not the original mono, just a downmix of the 5.1.

it's not original. Original mono only comes as Dolby Digital on the 2007(!) AB release. Unless you have either of the Region A boxed sets from 2013.

The most recent standalone releases (35th BD and 40th UHD) have a fold down of the 7.1 remix.

That’s weird. Outside of a couple of anime releases in Japan, I can’t think of any other BDs with 2.1 audio. That would be weird if true- dual Mono with subwoofer.

It doesn't say 2.1, but the following here: https://www.media-dealer.de/Sonderan...tab_attributes

Deutsch DD 2.0 Stereo, Deutsch DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio, Englisch DD 2.0 Stereo, Englisch DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio, Englisch Dolby Atmos

And yes, the Concorde is being advertised with the original mono tracks (as in plural) indeed.

I don't care that much, but I guess I'll have to double dip as well. With BD (encodes) Concorde really was rather shitty though which is why I own almost nada of their releases and might wait here.

EDIT: Oh, another Concorde drawback tend to be localized titles. Which is another reason why I avoid them whenever I can.

Their BD of Iron Man 3 is an awfully-encoded localised version, yep, but their UHD of IM3 uses a completely English-friendly master and the encoding is pretty damned good.

There's a good chance that Halloween will be a localised version though, but as there are very few title cards then I can live with it if it means getting the true OG English mono. Even on a movie that had a lot of title cards (German remastered BD of Volcano, which looks LUSH) it didn't make me run screaming from the room.

Since I really hate localized (I often wonder if I should switch to "proper" colours resp. what I learned btw) titles (not really happy with Howard's End here ...), I'll only bite if the Concorde has those and will stick with the 7.1 otherwise since I really don't care that much.

But I can understand if others would put the mono track first.

I was referring to my US English vs. the "proper" Oxford version (resp. your localised and colours vs. my localized and colors).

Yeah, people never get me.

Go with what you know, mein freunde. I usually understand what you mean (as I said to you before, I think you've got a better handle on English than some native speakers of the language) so those little accents don't matter a jot. People still give me a bit of gyp on here every now and then, this being a 'Murican forum, but I'm English and will remain so for a quite a while yet.
