This is basically my lists of movies that should be on Blu-Ray and/or 4K Ultra HD. Please don't judge me because of my weird taste in movies.

why not just cut out the middle man and wish for all the blu-ray releases to be released in 4K instead? as long as we're wishing in one hand here...

This thread will likely be moved to one of the wish list sections. However, Star Wars, Back to the Future, Aliens, Terminator, Batman, and the Marvel/Disney movies are hardly obscure and should be released eventually so long as the 4K UHD Blu-ray format doesn't completely tank (you forgot Indiana Jones). The format has been around for a relatively short time, and already we have Harry Potter, Predator, The Matrix, E.T., Jurassic Park, Gladiator, Braveheart, the Nolan Batman flicks, The Avengers, Blade Runner, and more. The format seems to be doing quite well, but the studios aren't going to release all of their tentpole films at the same time.

It kinda depends on the movie, but in general, 4K takes a lot more processor power, and it might not be worth it for the studio to dedicate that many cycles to certain movies. Well, at least for now. They should at least scan the film at 4K so they can remaster the movie in 4K 2-3 years down the road. This is especially true of movies with CGI, which actually includes Kangaroo Jack. As it is, we're in a silicon drought.
