Welcome to the Jungle! Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (Walking Tall) teams up with Seann William Scott (Road Trip) for a wildly entertaining action-adventure that Good Morning America's Joel Siegel raves is "one of the year's biggest, most fun movies!" Beck (Johnson) is a bounty hunter sent into the treacherous jungles of the Amazon to bring the rebellious Travis (Scott) back to the States. When Beck and Travis reluctantly join forces to hunt down a priceless treasure, this unlikely team embarks on a pulse-pounding, non-stop thrill-ride. Co-starring Rosario Dawson (Sin City), Jon Gries (Napoleon Dynamite), Ewen Bremner (Trainspotting) and Christopher Walken (Mouse Hunt), and directed by Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, Lone Survivor).

I just learned it was called Welcome to the Jungle in some international markets. So that makes two Dwayne Johnson films with that in the title, with the other being Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017).

Will this be an upscale of the existing 2K digital intermediate files like Tropic Thunder (also released by Kino on that format), or will it be a complete native 4K redo of said DI like Bad Boys II and Love Actually (both released by Universal and Sony in the same year, coincidentally enough)? Either way, I’m still excited!

I used to watch this often!

Wish it wasn’t Kino though.

Oh hell yes! I was not expecting this. The best movie The Rock has ever made. What a blast this one is. I can't wait to snag this

Just saw a copy of this in a used store on VHS, so maybe the uhd spontaneously was born that very moment. Actually don't recall seeing this one. There was a time when I was trying to see most of DJ's actions films in the theater and they were generally pretty fun from what I recall.

Also wasn't expecting this. A very fun flick, if I recall correctly. Not seen it since DVD, so the upgrade should be substantial.

Walking Tall was another "early" Dwayne Johnson that I'd like to see get some 4k love.

Would also like more of Peter Berg's work on 4k. Friday Night Lights and The Kingdom would be most welcome!!!

Was Love Actually, actually a 4k native redo? Certainly didn't look like it.

No Kino gets this they will come up with some kind of excuse not to have DV or HDR. This will be an SDR 4K master.

Wow. Unexpected. Really the only movie that fully put The Rock to use imo.

Yes, it actually was (no pun intended). According to a Variety article from last November, Richard Curtis worked directly with three companies to recreate the movie’s digital intermediate from scratch; Illuminate rescanned the original 35mm film negatives from Universal in LA, then Silver Salt Restoration took those rescans and carefully restored the framing and did heavy stabilisation to match Framestore’s original 2K DI, and finally Goldcrest London performed a new color grade for HDR and Dolby Vision, and finished the overall native 4K remaster.

Here’s the link to it, in case if you’re interested. https://variety.com/2023/film/global...al-1235776741/
