Hi guys
This has been a persistent problem i have had for awhile and figured i might as well field this question the professionals here and see if anyone has any info that might help me. I purchased a Sony 4K UBP-X700 Blu-ray player and hooked it up to my TV (TV is Sony 4k KD50X690E 50"), and almost immediatley noticed that i was having trouble with disc playback whether it was a 4K disc, Blu-ray or DVD. It looked vaguely like the soap opera effect in that movements (whether they be the humans in frame or the camerea movements) looked a little off but it didn't seem to effect the actual aesthetics of the picture which is something i had noticed when i saw motion smoothing on other people's televisions. At first i checked to make sure it wasn't that motion smoothing had been turned on again but all those setting were still turned off on my TV and i never noticed any problem like this when watching DIRECTV. Now when i watched Amazon Prime, Hulu, Netflix, or YouTube through their respective apps on my Blu-ray player they did not seem to suffer this effect either, only when i attempted to watch a disc. One thing a friend told me was it might be because the HDMI cables i am using are out of date and not as compatabile with 4K which i thought might be true as these are the same cables i had been using for years so i ordered these off Amazon and hooked them up and it did look to improve the picture a bit but i still noticed this problem. There might just be another setting that i am unaware of in this player that i need to turn off but i can't figure it out. i am going to leave all my UHD Blu-ray settings and TV settings as they currently are and let me know if anyone has any idea. Thanks in advance.
