Nice to see this getting a Blu-ray release, I was afraid only Kickstarter backers would be able to get one. This is a very unique movie, and I urge any horror fans to check it out. Non-horror fans too, just be aware there is some disturbing imagery. Although the story unfortunately is not up to par with the visuals, there's so much creativity jam-packed into this movie that it makes up for any shortcomings of the plot.

I'll be picking this up one way or another, depending on artwork for a Steelbook or if there's a standard edition.

Excellent. Can't wait to have this on the shelf, and I'm hoping for some fascinating extras about its 30-year gestation. Tippett's a reliably entertaining (if sometimes curmudgeonly) interview subject, so I'd love a commentary.

I found this pretty disappointing. It would have worked better as a 15 minutes short IMO.

So is this really a Steelbook? The Amazon listing is up and it just says Blu-ray. The Deep Discount link still says Steelbook, but the artwork is up and doesn't really look like a Steelbook.

Exciting assortment of features there. Maya Tippett's perspective on the making of the movie should be interesting and the commentary from the animation team will likely be fascinating for nerds (like me) who want to know all about the nuts-n-bolts of the project, but we also get Phil Tippett and Guillermo del Toro discussing stop-motion together? Can't wait.

My pre-order on Amazon was for the standard Blu, but now I just checked and it was automatically updated to the steelbook. Has the standard Blu been scrapped?

I will keep my order regardless, though I'm not a steelbook collector.

I think there's only ever been a Steelbook release, but some didn't list it as such.

The initial announcement from this site did not mention steelbook, so that's why I was confused. I'd purchase a standard Blu at a lower price, but a steelbook is fine.
