Very nice 13.2 channel A/V receiver, I just wish all the HDMI ports handled 8K resolution instead of 4K. There is only one 8K HDMI port, which is fine for the year 2020, but by 2026 one will most likely wish they had all the HDMI ports with 8K.
If I was in the market for a upgrade in 2020, this would be on the top of my list. I would just need to purchase another A/V receiver in 2026 to 2030 when I start buying 8K equipment. Last edited by HDTV1080P; 10-28-2020 at 08:29 AM. |

Have Denon offered any idea as to the solution they'll offer to the current HDMI 2.1 issue which means their new AVRs can't handle 120hz 4K and 8K 60hz from the likes of the Series X? Desk Last edited by Desk.; 10-26-2020 at 08:39 PM. |

@HDTV1080P, correct one 8K input and 2 8K outputs. But by the time we'll all be ready for more 8K external sources we'll have 8K capable switches so your 8K receivers can take more 48Gbps inputs.
@Desk., Sound United, the parent company of Denon and Marantz has acknowledged the issue and is working with the chip manufacturer, Panasonic on a solution. This will be fixed. |

![]() Yes, but how easily and when? Are we talking about a future firmware update or a factory recall requiring that an entire new chip be installed? The latter would be a major hassle and a real pain in the patootie. Disconnecting an AVR after it has been set-up and sending it off for repair is no fun not to mention all the time that one would be left without their AVR. Consider this video on the issue: Personally, I would not buy any AVR if I knew that I would have to send it in for repairs from the outset. We already had the capacitor issue with some of the brand new Denon X6700H AVRs (see: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...5&postcount=47) and now we have this HDMI 2.1 chip issue with both Denon and Marantz AVRs. Where's the quality control at Sound United? Why don't they test this stuff to make sure that the whole HDMI 2.1 chain is compatible before bringing it to market? ![]() Last edited by Vilya; 10-26-2020 at 09:53 PM. |

@Vilya, this problem is due to a bug in the HDMI chipset that is also supplied and used in Sony's PS5, Yamaha's new receivers and other brands and models.
To date only Sound United, owner of Marantz and Denon, has acknowledged the issue and put out a pubic statement promising a fix. The chip comes from Panasonic and from what I have been able to ascertain to date only Panasonic and Sound United are working on a solution. I admire a company that immediately faces problems, admits the issue, takes responsibility and is very proactive in fixing the problem. |

https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.ph...&id=1603697838 The youtube video that I reposted above from forum member JohnAV said that the new game consoles and the new video cards for gaming computers are sending an uncompressed 4K 120 signal, but the HDMI 2.1 chip in these new 8K AVRs only accept compressed 4K 120 signals and as a result the AVRs output a black screen to the TVs as this chip can not handle uncompressed signals. The solution that Sound United offers will affect my opinion of them for good or for ill depending upon what it is, but had they fully tested the HDMI 2.1 chain this problem could have been averted. All that they had to do was send both an uncompressed and a compressed 4K 120 signal to their AVRs and observe the results, but they apparently did not bother. I own Denon products, so I do not need to be sold on them. My old Denon AVR 4806 died last month after 14 years of perfect service, so I am in the market for a replacement. I was inclined towards the Marantz SR 8015, but in light of this issue I am now leaning towards getting the SR 8012 and saving myself $700. I was also considering the Denon X6700H, but I do not want to play the good/ bad capacitor lottery, so that model is out of contention leaving the X6500H as another possibility. If this problem can be fixed with a firmware update that would be easy peasey, but a factory recall to replace the faulty HDMI 2.1 chip would be a gigantic hassle. I do not want to set-up a new AVR only to have to undo it, box it up, send it in for repair, and then wait for who knows how long to get it back. Last edited by Vilya; 10-27-2020 at 07:12 PM. |

Everyone makes a personal decision when they are ready to upgrade their equipment. By 2026 there should be several external 8K sources on the market to choose from like 8K streaming, 8K videogame consoles, 8K satellite/cable receiver, and maybe even a 8K Blu-ray player. However that is 6 years away. The reason I said 2026-2030, is because it’s a personal decision when a consumer decides to upgrade their equipment.

It looks like Value Elctronics no longer carries Pioneer Elite A/V receivers which were around $3,000 with less features. This top of the line Denon AVR-A110 for $5,499 is the best 2020 Denon A/V receiver made. One of the reasons for the higher price most likely is because this model is not made in China, but instead is made in the Shirakawa Japan Audio Factory. I just wish they would have added 8K HDMI for every input instead of just one input (even if it were to raise the price to $6,499 instead of $5,499 it would be worth it for those that keep their A/V receivers for 10 years instead of upgrading every few years).
The Pioneer Elite has a 3 year warranty and this Denon flagship has a 5 year warranty. This Denon A/V receiver has true 13.2 DTS X Pro surround sound and Auro-3D. Also it supports all the most popular HDR formats including HDR10+ and Dolby Vision HDR. This is the best A/V receiver on the market. I would like to see a professional review on this product from Widescreen Review magazine or Sound and Vision magazine sometime in the future. Last edited by HDTV1080P; 10-30-2020 at 02:58 AM. |

We're still Pioneer Elite authorized dealers.
Denon's new flagship AVR-A110, 110th Anniversary 13.2 receiver has all new upgraded components and is tuned by Denon's chief engineer. We're installing one in our 13.2 channel theater showroom. |

There is a wide selection of surround sound systems for the consumer to choose from. Consumers can purchase a entry level Craig 5.1 channel home theater system with built in DVD player for as low as $44.99, or they can purchase the Denon AVR-A110 with high -end 13.2 speaker system for $30,000+.

Good Morning All!
It has been a minute since, I last posted on this site! I am glad to see nothing has changed except for the technology! I did not see this posted anywhere, so I am posting it here. A couple of days ago, I made the change from my Pioneer Elite LX901 receiver to the Denon AVR-A110! I have seen all the articles and youtube videos documenting the HDMI 2.1 problems. Once, I saw there was a fix for the problem, I bought the new Denon! To my surprise, when I tried to order the external HDMI box for my receiver I got this message on the web page..... "Your device already has the necessary hardware for the perfect 4k120 gaming experience with all game consoles. If you still have problems connecting or configuring, read the FAQ or ask your dealer or our support team." Your Denon Service and Support Team Needless to say, when I saw this I was happy and skeptical at the same time because, I was still seeing the same 2.1 HDMI problem being reported. I found this article with a video on how to fix the problem on Audioholics! https://www.audioholics.com/news/sou...i-2.1-no-issue I was happy with my purchase before, but now I can't wait for my new ultra HDMI cables to arrive. Next up is upgrading to an LG or Sony 77" OLED tv! I still have not decided which one to get yet! Sorry, for the long post! |
