Back in the Silver Age I was watching a lot of slasher movies but for some reason I never got around to watching this one or subsequently came across it on DVD. If it's like any of the other 80s 3D movies I've seen then I look forward to seeing it in its original format sooner rather than later.

I love slasher movies and this one is a lot of fun. I still have the VHS.

I was wondering who would start up a thread about this. Looking forward to this!

Some useless Silent Madness trivia...

1. Filmed in Arrivision 3-D (Jaws 3-D, Amityville 3-D).
2. Director of Photography Gerald Feil performed similar duties on Friday the 13th - part 3(-D).
3. Belinda Montgomery has a small part in Tron: Legacy (2010) as Sam Flynn's grandmother.
4. Viveca Lindfors (Creepshow, Stargate) has a cameo in another 3-D production, Run for Cover (1995). 40 years prior to that film, she starred opposite James Cagney in the Pine/Thomas 2D western Run for Cover (1955).

This looks really low budget and cheesy, but at least the trailer shows an arcade cabinet of Dragon's Lair in there. As far as 3D moments, not many that I can imagine are effective in the trailer yet.

A large percentage of VS’s titles are cheesy and low budget but there are some real gems to be found too. Their transfers are top notch, every single VS title I own looks great.
To be honest, I think this film doesn’t look that great but on the plus side, we will get a smashing transfer and no doubt a best possible 3D presentation.
I just see it as added bonus, I wasn’t expecting it so.........

Let’s face it, we are never going to get F13th 3D!

If we do get a 3D Blu-ray, I hope it's the longer and bloodier uncut version, not the censored cut by the British and kept cut on the 2002 DVD.

If it’s VS, I honestly can’t see it being cut.

Why does the heading say no 3D Blu-ray 13th? Shouldn’t that be possible 3D?

Thanks, Steedeel. I have a lot of old, cheesy and low budget movies in my collection that are fun to watch, so I know how you feel about finding some gems. I can think of a few right now. They're cheesy movies but fun to watch with great entertainment value.

As far as the 3D for this, hopefully it's better than the trailer might suggest with the limited views that don't look ideal for 3D. Most shots are close ups, and only the final two shots of him smashing the weapon through the glass at the camera and then the lady running towards the screen are good for 3D (watching it quickly). The other shots look like they were shot with 2D in mind. Haven't seen this film yet.

I’m buying it regardless to support VS and 3DFA my friend. If it does well, maybe they will team up again, that is a very exciting thought.

Just because a 3D movie doesn't have gimmick shots doesn't mean it doesn't have good 3D. Dial M For Murder takes place mostly in a single room, yet has very good 3D throughout, just as one example.

This is very true but for the record, Silent Madness has plenty of gimmick shots. Right where that trailer ends, the hatchet he throws comes flying out of the screen - animated! It's preposterous in the best way.

I'm as excited about the possibility of a release as anyone - if a 3D Blu-ray is announced (as we all hope it will be) then the thread title will be updated very quickly to reflect that. As things stand though, this film is unavailable on 3D Blu-ray and has not been confirmed as getting a release on that format.

That sounds like exactly the kind of thing I want from a film like this!

But possible 3D is surely better than no 3D? That just makes it look like it isn’t getting a 3D release imo.

Just my opinion, no big deal.

Of course possible is better than no 3D, but to keep them tidy the only speculative element you'll see in movie thread titles is when region status is TBC.

I gather that there are quite a few unreleased titles which we might possibly see on 3D Blu-ray but until the possibility becomes a reality, it's safer just to say that there's no 3D Blu-ray. Hopefully this will be confirmed soon though...
