I am wondering whether anyone can suggest or recommend a 4k projector that also can play 3D blu ray? My 4k player has 3D blu ray and I have a number of 50s films in 3D blu.
Many thanks in advance. |

How much cash do you have to spend and do you want "true" 4K or are you alright with shifting technology? Do you have lots of room for throw distance, or do you need an ultra short throw projector that sits tight to the wall you're projecting against?

The standard 2D Blu-ray format is 1080P and it launched in 2006. The Blu-ray 3D format is native 1080P and it launched in 2010. The 4K Blu-ray format is a 2D only format that launched in the year 2016. If you want a native 4K light engine in the projector with the ability to playback legacy Blu-ray 3D movies in true 3D quality at 1080P, then your only two choices is either a JVC or Sony LCOS projector (Sony calls their LCOS projectors SXRD’s). One advantage of the JVC models is that the latest models have HDR10+ where as Sony still only offers HDR10. A entry level 4K JVC projector starts at $6,999.95 and the highest end model costs $25,999.95.
https://www.jvc.com/usa/projectors/?...850.1666032855 An entry level 4K Sony projector costs $5,499.99 and the highest end model costs $80,000. https://electronics.sony.com/tv-vide...all-projectors The consumer DLP and LCD projectors under $100,000 in general use 1080P light engines with pixel shifting technology to simulate a 4K image. Also many of them are not 3D compatible. When one gets to the $100,000 to $400,000 price range the DLP professional cinema projectors are reference 4K quality and better then a $80,000 LCOS projector, especially if two DLP projectors are used in a Dolby Cinema or IMAX configuration for the home. One of the other issues, is that none of the projo manufacturers seem to be producing the glasses any longer. It's an important point if you need active glasses. Passive are typically easier to find and you could use the older theater 3D glasses in that case as well.
None of the TV panels I've seen in the last few years support the 3D image, even if they down-converted to 1080p (active glasses or 1080i (passive). No one in projos talk about 3D any more. Shame really. |

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
I am looking for a long throw as the projector will be suspended from the ceiling. I have found this. Does anyone recommend? https://www.projectors.co.uk/sony-vp...AaAllaEALw_wcB |
