To no surprise, it's Netflix leading the pack with "...a jaw-dropping 42 nominations..."

I'm confused by The Flight Attendant's nods in the comedy category. It had moments of humor here and there, but it was definitely not a comedy show. Glad to see it nominated, as I enjoyed it a lot, but the comedy designation is weird.

I don't care too much for the Globes, and I haven't seen nearly enough to have full opinions yet, but some positives:
- THREE women in Best Director - 2 nominations for Anya Taylor Joy - Normal People and Daisy Edgar Jones getting nominated - Elle Fanning and Jane Levy for Best Comedy Actress in TV - Dev Patel nod - 'Soul' score nomination The downsides being no love for Never Rarely Sometimes Always or Da 5 Bloods (ESPECIALLY Delroy Lindo), the two best films of the year in my opinion, and no nomination for Paul Mescal in Normal People. Also, I haven't seen the film yet, but Jared Leto getting nominated for The Little Things was quite a surprise, considering what I've heard. |

While I haven't seen all of the films in connection, I will also point out the snub of Tom Hanks for News of the World. Yes, Hanks has been honored by the GG in the past but News is one of his best in a long line of great performances. He turned in two excellent performances in 2020 with News of the World and Greyhound and was overlooked for both. IMHO though, News was the stronger of the two. Why would Let Him Go suddenly become a major awards player? It got decent-at-best reviews, its writer/director is definitely no awards magnet, there is nothing that indicates there's a passion for it be it from viewers in general or the industry. The movie came and went without any fanfare.

Likewise Diane Lane. She is underrated, overlooked and snubbed. Continually throughout her underrated career. And that's why I champion her. It's a shame that Nicole Kidman or some other A-Lister can sneeze on film and get nominated for something... |

I thought Let Him Go was one of the best films of the year honestly. The wife and I started watching it late and night and the plan was to watch half one night and the second half the next as we had work early the next day. We ended up watching the whole thing. In a rather lackluster year for film, this is one of the stand outs for me, and I do think Diane Lane should have been recognized, and I'm not even much of a a Diane Lane fan.
