The Lover 4K Blu-ray

MPI Home Video will be releasing The Lover (1992) on 4K UHD. Likely a direct port of the German Capelight release, and possibly also in a Mediabook as well.

Interesting! Odd title to get a release here in the states. Perhaps a bit too European. Don't think it's been released on Blu-ray here yet. Picked up the South Korean disc last year.

It got major VHS and DVD releases in the U.S. but after that it went suddenly quiet on the U.S. release front.

In U.S., "The Lover" had also received major theatrical release from a major studio MGM. The film even received an Oscar nomination. (Someone had just posted the United States TV spot from MGM.)

On the other hand, the film is also available for pre-order in bestbuy.com (the price is lower than Target's price ?!)

Those are the sorts of mysteries that 4K was meant to solve. I'm not actually curious enough to buy this, but someone else please report back.

Of course, I picked up the French remastered Blu-ray shortly ago. I didn't realize Capelight had remastered this surprisingly as I have some of their 4k titles already. Anyway, guaranteed purchase either way. The French version has mandatory subtitles that I just can't quite seem to get rid of with my Oppo 203.

She was 18 or 19 when they filmed this but she looked so much younger! I can't believe Jane isn't even 50 yet. It feels like this movie came out ages ago.

I have the German BD of this movie since it's the only region free BD out there currently. Really good movie. Should look even better in 4K.
