Default Chopper (2000) Eric Bana - No Blu-ray release, anywhere?!

It gets a reasonable IMDb score, is only 14 years old, and I thought it was a pretty decent movie... so why no blu-ray releases anywhere?

Any ideas? News?

One of the funniest films I've seen. I would love a bluray release.

Would love to see this film on blu-ray. I am a very very big Dominik fan with Jesse James and Killing Them Softly being two of my most rewatched blu-rays (though a little frustrating the special features on the Jesse James disc are apparently non-existant). I would DEFINITELY get a blu-ray of this if there was ever one released. Perhaps nearer the release of his next film, Blonde?

I'd love to see this released also. In fact, there are many Australian 'gangster' films I'd love to see get the Blu treatment!

I recommend the books btw. Very good reads for the most part.

Nice to see some demand for it. I saw it on TV a few months back and instantly thought "Hey, great film, must check out the blu-ray"... Went searching and nada, not a single release worldwide!

Fingers crossed we see it sometime soon...

I'd buy this day 1 on blu ray! "I'm just a bloody normal bloke, a normal bloke who likes a bit of torture!"

Wonder if there's any news out there for this title yet? Any international releases anyone's got wind of?

Perhaps when Andrew Dominik's next film, Blonde (Marilyn Monroe biopic starring Jessica Chastain) comes out it's more likely someone will pick this up for release...assuming the film's a success! Such a shame his last two films have been largely shrugged off by the filmgoing public - they're both two of my favourite films of the last decade.

Was googling the year that Chopper was made to date when I last caught up with an old friend in person (went to the cinema with him and a couple of mates to watch the film).
Also surprised there is no Blu-Ray. Chopper was quite a good film. Clever mix of drama, violence and dark humour.
The events of Chopper are a great example of how truth is stranger than fiction.

I'm really surprised there isn't even an Australian release considering what a huge hit and cult favourite it is here, not to mention how often things have revived public interest in Chopper Read in recent years (eg. His death, final "tell all" interview, the Underbelly mini series a year or two ago, etc).

Seems like a no-brainer for a label like Umbrella.

A release is looking a lot more likely now that the movie has been remastered for it's 20th anniversary:

Chopper was very good and it is one of Eric Bana's best rolls.

Beyond Entertainment (rights holder) and Umbrella just completed a new 4k restoration. I suspect Umbrella will be putting out this restored version on BD in the near future.
