As Lucasfilm continues to develop new stories, the intersection of animation and visual effects offers new opportunities to explore. Lucasfilm Animation will be teaming up with Lucasfilm’s visual effects team, Industrial Light & Magic, to develop a special Star Wars adventure for Disney+, A Droid Story. This epic journey will introduce us to a new hero, guided by legendary duo R2-D2 and C-3PO.

oh this will be so bad, I hated the Driod Episodes in Clone Wars.

Sounds like it’ll be good! Artoo and Threepio have always been my favorite characters.

This is the only new Star Wars series announcement in skeptic of. Hopefully whatever Droids featured have an actual personality and some minimal human character interaction. This could be wonderful like Wall•E or unbearable to that of those Droid TCW episodes hahah

I'm interested to see what they mean by "the intersection of animation and visual effects." Lucasfilm Animation and ILM team-up!

The fact that they heavily mentioned ILM's involvement in the series makes me wonder if this is testing some kind of new technology.

Cool. If it's live action or CGI, I really hope they get the reflective quality of C3PO right. Surprisingly, the Lego CGI films gave his gold plating the mirror like quality he is known for.

I understand he gets dirty and scuffed up on certain planets, but when that gold chrome is highly reflective, it looks awesome.

R2D2 is resourceful and has some useful contraptions like a jet pack even, when needed. I'm surprised he hasn't had a laser gun installed for defense, which would be more effective against ranged enemies.

They're passive droids, not battle droids, so that's understandable.

Glad to see a series being produced.
