Don't really buy releases Day 1 these days but this will probably be the one exception.

5/5 and easily best of the year by far, instead of the typical superhero crap.

Date movie. Guys gets sucked into going by the promise of a aliens and action, girl walks out happy after being afraid she was being dragged into a boring sci-fi flick. Guy walks out disappointed saying "what the heck was that? A chick flick?"

Obviously you are more of a Independence Day kind of guy. And Independence Day of course is a piece of crap, but it has action. Would never call The Arrival a chick flick.

So, I've not seen the movie, but based on the trailers, am I the only one that sees this as a remake of the two made-for-TV "Epoch" movies?

I'd call it an intellectual sci-fi film. Great movie. Looks like it's being released March 14th, 2017.

Saying "Arrival" is a chick flick film is like calling "The Tree of Life" a family movie.

Day one for me. Currently my favorite film of the year. I'm hoping we'll get a steelbook or digibook or something nice though.
