How did Pidax manage to license this from Warner?

Yes, it seems odd. Pidax are also releasing a three film Tarzan set next month (Tarzan's Greatest Adventure, Tarzan Goes To India & Tarzan's Three Challenges), all of which have been release on WAC Blu-rays.

Iīve emailed Pidax 4 days ago asking about the Robin Hood and if they have licensed it from Warners .. and about the possibility if they may have more Warner titles coming...
NO REPLY couldnīt imagine this being an illegal release.. and this being one of THE classics from prolly the biggest world wide company youīd really be a fool to bootleg that.. |

Of course what we'd really like is for Pidax to be releasing films that Warner haven't released yet

The only Pidax release that I have (Montana Jones vol.1) doesn't mention any copyright info either.
fwiw Pidax recently cancelled their Queen Millennia DVD due to rights issues. I don't believe they are bootleggers. Last edited by NLScavenger; 05-14-2021 at 02:15 PM. |

I have two Pidax releases Oliver Twist and Return of the Musketeers, both have copyright holder information on the back, ITV and MGM respectively.
So they are legit or at least used to be. If somehow those Warner titles were now PD in Germany, they wouldn't have all those Warner produced extras mentioned on the back. Maybe the back cover is a quick knock up for marketing purposes. Will wait and see ![]() |

There is no PD in Germany. German collectors are also wondering why, of all things, Pidax receives such valuable Licenses. I have the Pidax and the US in the collection. The US BD has clearly the better PQ and unfortunately the Pidax has a pal pitch for the German Dub. For me is the disc a letdown.

I think Pidax other releases like Thundercats have Warner logos on the back, indicating they were licenced through them. It's possible the German copyright to The Adventures of Robin Hood wasn't renewed or had expired due to it's 70 year renewal range being maxed out.

And Warners haven't licensed Robin Hood or Thundercats to Pidax, I have an email from them. Pidax got into bootleg-business some time ago. With releases from recorded TV-boradcasts or that infamous Mosquito Coast Blu-ray. I can only say: Stay away from Pidax releases. Some of them have logos and copyright-informations on their back. Those are OK, but of course the more interesting titles are obviolsly not legit! |

It does not necessarily have to be licensed directly from Warner.
It could be that the title was also sub-licensed by Studio Hamburg Enterprises. Just like some awesome titles from Anolis. At least that would be a possibility even if the logos were missing. Even with some WB titles that Studio Hamburg has published, the logos are also missing on the artwork, and these titles were known to have been part of a deal with Warner However, anything would be possible, only we don't know what is going on |
