United Kingdom The House of Hitchcock (18 film collection)

Just got an email from Zavvi about this due to their red carpet scheme & I have to say it looks superb, shame I’ve already got many of these though.

Universally recognised as the Master of Suspense, the legendary Alfred Hitchcock directed some of cinema’s most thrilling and unforgettable classics. The House of Hitchcock features 18 iconic films from the acclaimed director’s illustrious career including Psycho, The Birds, Rear Window, Vertigo and North by Northwest, plus a range of limited edition extras including blueprints of the infamous Psycho House, original storyboards from some of his finest movies, movie poster artcards for all the films, and a booklet about the man himself.

Includes:

SABOTEUR
SHADOW OF A DOUBT
ROPE
STRANGERS ON A TRAIN
DIAL M FOR MURDER
REAR WINDOW
TO CATCH A THIEF
THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY
THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH
VERTIGO
NORTH BY NORTHWEST
PSYCHO (1960)
THE BIRDS
MARNIE
TORN CURTAIN
TOPAZ
FRENZY
FAMILY PLOT

How to wring more money out of the same old box set by adding novelty packaging and a bit of tat.

Not wrong to be fair, I was surprised by how many are already in the masterpiece collection which I already own.

I wonder why Mr & Mrs Smith hasn't made it to Blu-ray yet? Foreign Correspondent also seems to have been released everywhere apart from the UK. It's a shame they couldn't get those two and Stage Fright to make this (or a future) boxset worth getting.

The Criterion of Foreign Correspondent is worth getting if you're region free though, one of Hitch's hidden gems. Still waiting on Spellbound from Criterion.

Mr & Mrs Smith is bottom tier, but would welcome a release of Stage Fright which is really good. Also wish Network or BFI had released Secret Agent.

Not to mention Rebecca, Notorious, Spellbound, The Paradine Case, I Confess, Foreign Correspondent, The Wrong Man, and others that have HD releases in other countries.

Sorry that this is off topic, but I saw in your Signature that you wanted Local Hero to come to Blu Ray, and just to let you know it's out next week

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Local...lu-ray/215399/

You've probably already seen this, but I did't see it in your ordered/wishlist collection so I wanted to be sure.

Probably the only one here who will be getting this. I own no Hitchcock on Blu-ray & while I could just pick these up separately & cheaper, I kind of like the look of it.
I'll throw a few hints at my girlfriend for Christmas and see what happens!

Even more reason that they should be included in the set then. Particularly since all the HMV ones are only available second hand now.

They're great movies, and it's good to see one collection with them in rather than having to pick up other, separate, releases. The goodies look really nice as well.

However the Masterpiece collection that has all but four of these movies is available for about £30, and other collection of three is about £20. So you could get the whole lot for half the price of this big box set if you shopped smart. The extra £50 could buy you some of the missing movies from his pre-hollywood era.

Hence the lukewarm reception as even a casual Hitchcock fan like myself has all of these, and more besides.

It would look nice on a shelf I'll admit but I'm happy with what I have currently. Just need to import the Criterions and other overseas releases. I asked BFI if there was any chance of releasing Notorious and they gave me a hard no, it's frustrating that we haven't had essential releases like that yet.

Very nice, I currently only have the Masterpiece collection and North by Northwest. Not sure why I got the latter when I can just get the 3 film Hitchcock set you have which I’ve seen for as low as a tenner! Will need to grab those network releases though.
