Default New Alien vs. Predator movie reboot reportedly in development at Disney

Quote:
In a bizarrely random new development, it appears a new Alien vs. Predator movie may be in the works at Disney / 20th Century Studios. According to a fresh report by Giant Freaking Robot, they claim trusted insider sources have confirmed to them that a new AvP film is currently being developed for the big screen:

These two franchises have been butchered enough without you, Disney.

This is a major win for all the prequel and Ridley Scott haters. I hope you're all happy. Surely this is what you wanted.

I wanted Alien 5. I will not dismiss this until there is some actually info though.

Hmm, I'm not sure what to make of this. The first AVP is really fun in a dumb action movie kind of way, while AVPR is still the worst Alien and Predator movie ever made, even after Shane Black's dumpster fire.

In an ideal world, AVP, Alien and Predator could co-exist as three separate series of films. If it were up to me, this AVP movie would happen, and Scott would still get a chance to finish his Alien prequel story at the same time. Remains to be seen how Disney approaches this.

If they’re gonna do that, just give Ridley Scott another ridiculous amount of money and let him close off his nutty prequels.

After the success of Godzilla vs. Kong, I'm sure there were a few lightbulb moments for studios pitting two famous monsters together. It's a very fine line between badass and cheesy when it comes to these sorts of movies, but someone out there can do it, surely. At least with the AvP games, there was always the human campaign as well, so a human storyline may not feel as shoehorned as it could in another monster battle movie. I'm cautiously optimistic.

For Pete's sakes, Disney. Did you not see how the last Alien and the last Predator movies did?

Really? AvP? Not that I am complaining, but...

I am STILL sitting here waiting for a sequel to Alien: Covenant!

Come on, Disney, get Ridley Scott on it already!

I suggested this possibility would happen. It only makes sense for Disney to want AvP even more than Alien or Predator individually. Disney might be hesitant when it comes to horror, but not when it comes to action. Why wouldn't they want their own Godzilla vs. Kong type franchise? This will be their creature feature combination series.
