Default Wal-Mart Canada & Blu-ray movies

Hello fellow Canadians,

At my local Wal-Mart (Ottawa South) I've noticed how it seems like they aren't stocking both versions of Warner movies, only the Blu-ray versions (such as the limited edition Harry Potter set). Also the Venturer HD DVD player doesn't seem to be selling at all, they tried to put it on display in the middle of the aisle outside of the electronics area, but later moved it back in and the shelf is full (10+ machines). Just some interesting observations.

Here in the greater Toronto Area 3 out of the 4 Wal Marts I visit (2 in my area, 1 in girlfriend's area & work area) they have a 4 sided display in the isle. 3 sides blu. The newest one just crammed as many of each format in a small section smaller than a gum dispay. That store is a couple of months old and they managed to cram many more blu's & just one HD (Zodiac) since they openned. Unfortunately the 2 Sam's I visit (owned by Wal Mart) have less than 10 blu (and same # of HD) & it's been that way since x-mas.

This is exactly how it's been at my local one for a few months now (Ottawa).

I remember after boxing day it looked funny because the Blu-rays were almost all gone (I think they had a 2 for 1 sale) and the HDDVD side was jam packed.

Wal-Mart in charlottetown, is about ~60% Blu-ray software (3 of 5 shelves, plus some overflow). There was one display of an HD DVD standalone that was on rollback or clearance, not sure which.

The Ottawa South one has the same thing, but two sides are used for BD movies, the other two for DVD Players (weird I know). They used to put the Venturer HD DVD on one side around Christmas time, but not anymore. Having asked the employees, they've always recommended Blu-ray since last summer when I got my PS3. I just like to get a feel for what sales employees are thinking

This is also how the Walmart is in Coquitlam, BC. It's been this way for months. The HD-DVD side is also the back side in case anyone is wondering.

I haven't checked there too recently though, but will be sure to start checking the WB titles there again soon.
