Default Do you want The Nutty Professor 3?

Now that Murphy has done sequels to Coming To America (1988) with Coming 2 America (2021) & Beverly Hills Cop 3 (1994) with Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley (2024) - do you want to see The Nutty Professor 3 next?

It's been 24 years since The Nutty Professor 2 (2000), but there was a 33 year gap between Coming To America/Coming 2 America, plus a 30 year gap between Beverly Hills Cop 3/Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley, so it's not too late!

No the first one is a classic the second one was a big step down. And Coming 2 America was a huge disappointment.

I'll say yes on the basis that comedies these days are absolute dog crap so this would at least give me some hope of a decent comedy.

Are they planning a NP3? I haven't gotten into this series, but 3 would round things out into a "trilogy" as Hollywood loves to make and announce movies in.
I'm surprised it wouldn't be just a reboot of the series or a remake, then they'd have Murphy as a cameo in the film.

I wouldn't mind seeing Eddie Murphy do another comedy where he plays multiple characters, but something original. The jokes in the first sequel 24 years ago already felt dated then. The original is great, but it's definitely a product of the mid 90s. I'm not sure if the premise and the humor would go over today.

The Nutty Professor (1996) is itself a remake.

Thanks. This could be a remake of the remake.

But in line with the thread's question, I think the odds are slim for a part 3, but it would make sense to complete the saga with a 3rd film.

Eddie Murphy said a script for The Nutty Professor 3 was written & submitted to the studios but that was in around 2008 or 2010, so yeah seems doubtful.

Thanks Blu. That's a long time, so you are right, they have let that script collect too much dust on the shelf over 14+ years now. But in the days of remakes, reboots and sequels, producers do like to revisit older franchises to see what might earn some dollars, so anything is possible if they can follow through on it.
