United Kingdom Planet Earth I - Any chance of a 4k release?

Do you think there's any chance of a Planet Earth I 4k release? I'd love to have both I & II on 4k, but I don't think the BBC has any plans to re-release the first, which is a huge shame. Either way, I'm a big fan of Attenborough documentaries, and my first 4k's are most likely to be some of those. Anyone seen anything pointing to a possible re-release or would the best bet be to just get it on Blu Ray at CeX or something for not-too-much money and wait it out?

The original production of PE1 wasn't even 1080 and was cobbled together with a bunch of 480/720 and a tiny bit on 1080 1st generation HD/Digital Cameras and maybe a bit of Film. People have complained for years after the later BBC stuff came out of how iffy PE1 actually looked compared the the later items. That wasn't due to the BD being better, it all came down to what was originally 'filmed'

Unlike the old 35mm film based elements which had plenty of juice to go back and recover, PE1 may already be beyond maxed out without some major digital trickery being performed. I just don't know if there would be much benefit -- I'd love to see some test clips, but I'm not hopeful.

OK, I didn't actually know that. I always wondered why it looked a bit 'off'. Thanks for the reply. I guess I'm sticking to BD for the first one and 4k for the second.

I gotta watch this again. Thought it looked great when I first watched it, but now I have a LG OLED77CX compared to a 55C6 I originally watched it on.
