Default Final Fantansy = War of Blu & Red?

Since Amazon has great deal for Blu-ray movie, so I bought Final Fantasy - The Spirits within. Just finished watching it, if you watched the movie, you know it is about Phantom from outer space attacking Earth. I have some funny thinking.

First, the Phantom is Red in color, the Earth people spirit is Blue. The "RED" phantoms are killing people by swallowing away their 'BLUE' spirits (the victims sound like those who bought HD-DVD players, and thinking it is the winning format), 'BLUE' and 'RED' keep fighting, at the end, the 'BLUE' spirits converted all 'RED' phantoms into 'BLUE' spirits, and won, leaving no 'RED' Phantom.

According to the movie, the 'RED' Phantom is Ghost, they are dead, so they were frightened, that is why keep fighting back.

BTW, it is a SONY pictures.

It's from 2001 or something, theres no way it's going to be about the format war

Plus Square USA made the movie, Sony only published because of their relationship with Square Soft (now Square Enix).

Im probably one of the few that actually liked that movie

I liked the movie as well but it's not just this movie that has the Blue vs. Red thing going on. The bad guys are always Red and the good guys are always Blue. What's the color of Darth Vader's lightsaber? That's right... Red. What's the color of the all the good guys lightsabers? Blue. Well, mostly they are blue some are green which is still closer to Blue than it is Red. Also, when you have high blood pressure or you get frustrated your face turns Red so Red = Evil/Anger. Just having the Red color for HD-DVD hurts them. I know people who actually dispise the color itself. Sure they are a little strange for "hateing" a color but people do. But that said, I also saw the connection with the red Phantoms and the blue Spirits.

Just another coincidence. I can think of countless movies, comic books, stories, etc. where good and evil are color-coded as such. Red is symbolistic of anger and is almost always associated with the bad guy. Blue and even green are often used to represent calmness, peacefulness.

What I think is funny is that the success of Blu was foreshadowed by this classic dogma.

The Spirits Within is no more archetypal than Star Wars, where imperial ships shot red lasers and rebel ships shot blue, and where darth vader's light saber was red while luke's were first blue, then green.

Edit: and mouse beat me to the Star Wars reference... hah, I need to type faster

I really like this movie as well, and while the idea does fit the format war, it certainly wasn't secretly about the format war.

It's just the way we interpret colors. Kind of like good cowboys wearing white/light color hats, and bad ones wearing black hats

the movie, IMO.... terrible... (don't take me personally)
but fortunately FFVIIAC comes out, and that is the real FF movies.

FF TSW does not have any relation with the other FF characterwise

Like the lightsaber colors in Star Wars. Obi-Wan: Blue, Vader: Red. We know who ultimately won (Yes, I know Vader killed Obi-Wan, but Obi-Wan ultimately won).

Well red is typically associated with "bad" things, things to be wary of.

Blood is red, stop signs are red, communists are red, the three infamous lights are red. It's not surprising that red was chosen to represent the "bad" in one of Sony's failures.... ehh I mean "movies"
