Default Region Free Blu-ray Player Issue

Let me know if this is the wrong sub category for this issue.

Player: LG UP870 / UBK80 from 220 Electronics (Region Free 4K)

TV: VIZIO P659-G1.

The HDMI is connected directly to HDMI, no splitters or switches used. The HDMI is ultra high speed purchased form Amazon.

I have had this recurring issue where I'll turn on the blu-ray player, and the image looks like this

I can get it to go away but turning off and turning it back on, but sometimes this takes 1 or 2 times, sometimes 10+ times. I know its not the TV or the input itself, because I have changed inputs and it ONLY happens with the 4K player, no other input has ever had this specific issue. I just wanted to know if there is some setting I'm missing, or is this probably just an issue with it being a region free player?

It's obviously not an end of the world problem, but it's annoying to waste 10 minutes sometimes flipping the player off then on then off, etc.

Try unplugging the player, waiting five seconds, and then plugging it back in again. My Panasonic machine has occasionally refused to load the HOME menu and would constantly display a virtual Control Panel which can be accessed in the Option menu. It wouldn't do this while I'm playing something, it would just happen after turning it on one day. When you turn it off, it actually just goes into a "standby" mode so it can wake up instantly. The only way to clear the issue is to reboot the machine by holding the power button for five seconds, then the player acts normally. I can't really speak for LG machines, but they might have a similar standby mode and you'll need to try rebooting yours. Looking at the manual, it seems the only way to reboot is to unplug it then plug it back in.

I actually didn't even think of that. It definitely goes into a standbyish mode, doesn't fully power down. I'll give that a go, thanks!
