I love this one and will happily buy it regardless but I was curious as it's a little unclear, is this the same "new" scan as was in the previous blu-ray which was released not along ago or a newer scan?

OEDO is a brand new 2K scan. Discotek were able to coordinate with Madhouse to make it happen. The director, Yoshiaki Kawajiri, also offered to supervise the remaster.

As someone who was unfortunate enough to get the previous Blu-ray and "unhappy" with the transfer being an understatement, this is a 100% must have for me.

I'll probably still keep the old one as well though as its the UK release digipak with CD and all the other swag.

Discotek Media writes "Same great features from our previous release". But on the back of the keep case and slipcover of the 2021 release, there are no features mentioned. Are there even any?

Japanese audio commentaries for the first two episodes, a documentary about the Manga dub, UK VHS & US DVD trailers.

Definitely jumping on this but a bit miffed they conveniently “find” the original masters in the vault only a year after that shoddy release. Now I just wish we could get a resurrection of the series if this sells well too, you never see gritty adult themed anime anymore.
