![]() ![]() ESC Editions released Alexandre Arcady's L'Union sacrée (1989) on 21 April 2021. In a rare and unfortunate error, both Amazon.fr and FNAC.com currently list this disc as having English subtitles. In fact, there are no subtitles provided in either English or French, except what looks like a translation file that is automatically on when the film starts, presumably to translate non-French dialogue into French. |

I was really looking forward to seeing this film. I ordered a copy from FNAC, but they wanted me to send it back for reimbursement later, which is too much of a hassle for me, so I opened it and confirmed what the packaging says (or doesn't say):
Back cover: [Show spoiler] Amazon: [Show spoiler] FNAC: [Show spoiler] ![]() I'm really surprised ESC didn't put French SDH subs on the disc. They are so common now I actually thought they were mandatory, or at least expected. |

How frustrating!
And there’s definitely not an English subtitle stream hiding in there somewhere? Bah! ![]() |

Correct, there are no subtitles in either English, French or French HoH. When you start the film, there is a French subtitle file on automatically which I assume is for translation purposes, such as dialogue or signs/text in the film not in French.
