Default HBO Max & Discovery Plus To Be Combined Into One Streaming Platform

https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/hbo...ticle-comments

I'm not to to thrilled with this if I'm understanding things.

1)If they are combined instead of bundled, should we expect a giant price increase?

I got to be honest, there is nothing I', really interested in from Discovery Plus so a big price increase for a product I don't even want is irksome.

2)I get HBO Max through my Xfinity cable service since I have HBO.Will this effect that?

I would much rather have the option of bundling like Disney Plus & Hulu where if I don't want Hulu,I'm not being forced to get it and pay for it or in my specific case, screws up the way I receive HBO MAX via Xfinity.

I do get their side though from a business angle.

The combined HBO Max and Discovery+ service is coming sooner than expected.

Warner Bros. Discovery President and CEO David Zaslav revealed that the new service will launch in the U.S. in spring 2023. It was previously set to launch in summer 2023.

There could be licensing issues regarding the international cut of IMOM that are preventing it from getting a worldwide UHD release

It is not music issues, New Line does not have the right to distribute the UK version. And there is no licensing issues, New Line/Warner released Blu-rays of the Austin Powers films.

It is just a matter of making the 4K masters which are not a priority right now.

I thought you meant that’s why the uk wasn’t getting it for some strange reason but those copyright laws can burn in a dumpster fire too because of them tales from the crypt isn’t available on any streaming service. Plus mgm Hong Kong and whoever owns the rights the international cut are reasons why that and the director’s cut of army of darkness plus the two tv cut scenes aren’t in uhd because they wouldn’t let shout go into the vaults to look for the higher quality footage.

Max with ads is offering three months for $1.99 per month right now, but I read that there are commercial breaks during some movies, but it's inconsistent. Anyone have any experience with that?

Not a movie but while I was binging the Adult swim show Moral Orel there were usually only 2 15 second commercials before the show started, 3 if it was sponsored by someone like a fancy perfume company

Being studio-centic probably would mean less outside studio content like they were getting by basing it in HBO though. Like you don't see much outside of Disney on Disney+.
