United Kingdom Superman and Superman II Box Office

I wonder if anyone can answer a couple of questions:
What was the box office difference between the first two Superman films?
Also, what was the reason for Superman II being released in different parts of the world months before the U.S. opening?
Thanks

Both of these films are now playing theatrically.

As they should; they remain the best big-screen depictions of the character so far. Superman Returns relied too much on nostalgia, and Man of Steel got a lot of flack for its tone and violence.

They truly are the best Superman films. I liked Man of Steel and Returns was ok. Watching II as a kid Reeves will always be Superman to me. The Donner cut is alright for II but prefer the theatrical version. Would watch it with my Papa back in the day.
